I heard from a fairly reliable source these Chinese monitors use LG panels. I just haven't bothered contacting the seller. And these A- panels don't sell for $250, from what I read, the actual monitors sell for $220-230USD in S. Korea. In fact, you can buy A grade panels on eBay for $200.

My main point was that I have a feeling the market still has room to bottom.

Read the treads. They are made in korea use exact same panels as this HP and thousands of ppl are thrilled with them despite coming from Korea with essentially zero support or warranty. For $350-$400 for the same thing who wouldnt be? Plus they offer gloss and glass and many people are put off by aggressive anti-glare put on IPS screens sold in the US market so this offers that alternative without apple pricing.

I personally only buy NEC but I just thought I'd put this out there to offer a cheap alternative many are excited about and has not hit AT yet.

The only downer is it doesn't have a HDMI port. Which tells me this thing is as POS imo!

HP can go make printers,, HP devices will go bad cuz their made by another third party people in Asia. They used to use Sony technology on their HP monitor long time ago...

Also note your LED is 5ms to 8ms,, so it will be laggy when vsync is on doesnt matter what the refresh rate is.... :(

More fail by you. Who cares for hdmi for this type of monitor? No intelligent person would use it.

HP makes good monitors. My HP L2335 is still going strong.

Just out of curiosity, what are the base clocks for a 6950 on a 2560x1440 desktop? Mine won't downclock past 500Mhz. Wondering if this is normal.

My card does 250/150 when idling at the desktop.

I'm on a 1920x1200 single monitor tho. I know if you have a second display attached to the port even if its off the card won't go lower than 500mhz.

HD 6970/6950 has 3 modes of operation:
880/1375 - full load
500/250 - video playback and Internet browsing
250/150 - idle.

HP ZR2740w - High Resolution IPS that Doesn't Break the Bank

Just read this review. Even with some drawbacks noted in the review, seems like a really nice monitor. Best part is that it is available for $633 shipped!

HP ZR2740w
2560x1440
LED backlit
DisplayPort and Dual Link DVI inputs
8-bit IPS panel

If I wasn't already typing this post while looking at a 30" Samsung 305T Plus, I would consider this new HP monitor.

i'm typing this on a Dell 27" 2560 x 1440.
if this HP 27" drops below $400 (ie: Black Friday or outlet refurb sale), i'm going to dual monitor

Pulled the trigger on this baby last night from BH.
For half of the NEC that I was going for, this could either be a boon or a bust. Worth the risk to try - I figure.

It will be a great monitor. I have the big brother, the zr30w and it is simply superb

Got it today - so far so good.

Win7 update picked up a driver that has an icm file in it (but doesn't seem to do anything but recognize the monitor).

I downloaded tftcentral's ICC file from their zr2740w test:
Looking at white; The factory default looks yellow and the TFTcentral ICC looks pink.
Not sure if either one is correct...

AR/AG (?) coating is definitely noticeable. It's weird.
At first it just made me want to focus deeper (kinda like looking at magic eye pics).

BTW: This display is for serious work people - forget about youtube. Even 1080p content look "low-def" at fullscreen.
