What sucks is me and my wife were both commenting on how well Cleary was playing in the 1st period. He was really the only Red Wing with his skates under him in the 1st.

WTF Huddler, I used to love him cuz he's such a workhorse. But this series it seems like everything bad that happened was tied to him in some way. Czek yo self foo

I hope Bertuzzi had a career ending paper cut there. Not sure what happened that he couldn't play, but he's a gigantic pussy so it could be anything.

Heh, my picks failed for this round failed, horribly.
1/4 🙁

Next round i'm taking:

Boston > Tampa Bay in 7
Vancouver > San Jose in 7

Yeah I was only 2/4 so don't feel bad. Although 3 of the 4 teams left are in my original top 5 when the playoffs started (minus washington and nashville).

All I can say for sure if that I think Vancouver will beat San Jose, it seems like San Jose suffers from lag spikes where they sit back and relax. Vancouver has too much talent whereas SJ could get away from it vs a hobbled Detroit.

Boston vs Tampa is close but I'm going with Tampa for a couple reasons: Boston has one of their cannons out with a mild concussion, leading scorer Bergeron. While one offensive player doesn't usually tip the scale, he just adds a ton of firepower with that 105mph shot that they're not going to get from Chris Kelly. Also, after listening to Steve Yzerman this morning, he did mention the work ethic factor and how that organization strives to only get high work ethic players. It shows, Tampa makes up for a lot of its shortcomings with pedal to the metal effort and a good example was that team not letting up on Pitt and Wash when they had the lead. They seemed to get even better when leading, which Boston has shown flashes of. However, I'm still not convinced that a team like Boston can go the distance with such an anemic PP, especially w/out Bergeron. So giving the edge to Tampa in this one.

Wow, can't believe how bad Tampa took it to the Bruins. Thomas was pretty poor as well. Lightning really are a surprise this season.

I dunno. Didn't look like a dive to me.

It was definitely a legit holding call, I think Lapierre maybe got caught for throwing the right arm up in the air like he did. Seems he just added a tiny touch of flair to it and got caught.

I'm glad they're calling it pretty tight this series. The hooking call that was on Burrows (can't remember which Shark took it...) was light, but I thought Raymond's holding penalty was light too. I have no problem with them being called, so long as you call them both. If the refs "let them play" too much, then you run the risk of the players taking a mile when you give them an inch, and then no one knows what is or isn't a penalty anymore.

Ya, the Hooking on Burrows was a BS call for sure. Perhaps the Diving was a makeup call.

The goalies in the Van/SJ game proved this series is what I thought it would be - a match to determine which notorious choke artists could out choke the other choker.

Man, at least Niemi was in the net on his goal via the bad pass. The Luongo goal was just pure amateur stuff, glad they recovered though (for his mental sake).

I used to love Luongo. I was a goalie as a kid, so I respect his skill. I can't respect his mental game though, and now it's become a form of schadenfreude for me.

Bergeron is expected to play tonight. Let's see if that helps the B's. They're a much better team than what showed on Saturday.

Go Lightning!
