Amazing, another goal off of malones skates. What freaking luck! In any case, caps just tied it. 1-1. Flyers bruins, no comment. Ugh

Wow, they're having the Caps play 2 nights in a row? I thought the playoffs guaranteed you at least one night off.

Philly should have kidnapped a couple Caps goalies. Varly and Holtby are wasted on the bench, and Neuvirth is playing extremely well despite the recent losses.

Scheduling conflict maybe (other events at one of the arenas)? Seems like it hurts Tampa Bay more with their 41 year old goaltender.

Good game in TB.

Awesome to see Philly getting pounded 😀
Looks like they're going to be in a pretty huge hole barring a miraculous comeback.

I can't find the TB game here on Comcast. The Bruins are on VS. What they should've done is put Bruins on NESN and TB on VS. Grrrr.

[Edit] Ohhh, I get it. The Red Sux are on NESN. Still grrr.

Let me guess. It was the ref's and the lack of diving penalties that caused the Wings to lose again.

Actually only 2 bad calls by the refs that I noticed. One on each side.

Overall I think the Wings outplayed the Sharks, somewhat of a disappointing loss for them. But it isn't like they manhandled the Sharks, either. Only slightly better.

In the end the Wings are destroying themselves with penalties. I've only seen maybe 1 or 2 that I didn't think was their own fault. The rest are just ridiculous.

Hey, congratulations, you've now complained more about the Wings fans complaining more than the Wings fans have actually complained.

Jimmy sucked hard tonight. That is all. What a waste of his two good games.

Wasn't aware that this was a complaining contest. I could have done much better had I known.

This Sharks/Red Wings series is remarkably similar to last years series. Detroit should win the next game, and then the Sharks finish it in game 5.

I think that's a pretty good call. If Detroit can get some bounces going their way, they might make it a 6 game series but I doubt it. At least the games have been competitive on both sides.

Cannot believe the Caps meltdown. Since Detroit is out, gotta root for TB.

I saw a lot of jump last night from the Wings. Helms was on fire with that steal, then hustle down the ice. Unfortunately no one joined him on the rush. Pavel seemed to be doing wierd stuff with the puck instead of putting it on net. Wings, as a whole, had some trouble getting the puck in deep. Salei's mishandling of the puck in the third was crucial. We were knocking on the door. All we had to do was contain San Jose in their end and just outwork them. Instead Salei let the puck get out of the zone. San Jose gets fresh bodies out there and that's it for the pressure.

I don't see much hope for the Wings even in the next game. They gave it their all and all it took was a mental mistake to give the Sharks a scoring chance, which they capitalized on.

Just a bad time of year for Howard to drop a crucial game.

BTW: Felt good to watch some hockey last night and not have to think. Thanks for your kind words and support puckheads.

So I guess moving Zetterberg down to the Cleary/Bert line didn't help? Didn't see the game, but that sounded like a bad idea from the start (breaking up Datsyuk and Zetterberg tandem).

Yeah. Toward the third Babcock put the two back together again and it generated scoring chances. It really didn't make much sense when I first heard it too. You pair a perennial Selkie nominee with Zetterburg and you get a line with an offensive punch but with a defensive minded forward who can read what's happening on the ice and adjusts accordingly. Wings had that with Yzerman/Shannahan back during our Cup winning days. We also could grind in more than two productive lines then too. And Drapes was 10 years younger.

Like I said before the Phoenix series the Wings , this year, even when they're playing their best they seem to leave an opposing forward open in their zone. I look back fondly to the '97 team that could sit on a one goal lead until the cows came home. That team could surround a puck and get it out of its zone like no other. My poor Vladdy, I still have your jersey hanging in my closet. Minus one self centered limo driver this team would have a couple more cups.

Seeing the Caps mop the floor with the penguins the last two seasons is enough for me. How's Cindy doing?

Yup, the Caps made it further than the Pens this year so it's sour grapes for Pen fans.

All in all, Tampa finished only 4 points behind Washington so it wasn't a huge upset. I'd give Boudreau 1 more year with his new system and trade Backstrom and Green for high priced veteran defensemen who can play solid D behind young Carlson/Alzner. Move Mojo up to take Backstrom's spot on the first line and acquire a cheap center for the third line, hell they can't do any worse. Obviously this would only be if they can keep Arnott.
