Dam, that sux.

Anyone have a live internet feed for the Preds game?

Watching some Canucks/Hawks, Hawks don't have a prayer in this series... Crawford is making a save a minute just to keep them in this thing.

So is Lou at this point, and the post has been his friend.

The Ducks are getting frustrated, Perry just tried to shove Rinne into the net... Pred's D is looking GOOD.

SCORE. Preds 2-0 now. My picks are looking pretty for Day 1.

I admit I haven't attempted to look up why....but why the fuck aren't any of the Anaheim/Nashville games being shown nationally?

No freaking clue. Probably because Vancouver/Chi would bring better ratings?

4-0 Preds now. It's a bloodbath... Ducks pull Ellis, Emery in.

It's always frustrating to see your team lose, but that was a fun game. Screw that damn goalpost.

If Luongo plays like that the entire playoffs the Canucks are going to be tough to beat.

Do the Ducks intentionally fill out their roster with every dickhead they can find? Seriously, there was shit going on at EVERY stoppage. Perry, Getzlaf, Brookbank, Parros, Ruutu
It was even worse when they had Pronger. That is one reason why I am happy that Detroit did not get ANA in the first round. Any team that deals with them will have a hell of a tough grinding series on their hands.

What the hell happen to the lighting? The last min of the second period they iced the puck 3 times. Then 3rd period rolls around and get dominated. It seems like they tired out and it is only first game of series. Marc Andre Fleury was on his game. When he is it is game over but his problem is he is not consistent. He will have that WTF kind of game that really boggles the mind. Maybe this is the year he won't do that.

Hopefully Canucks can win this series with Blackhawks. Losing 2 seasons in a row to Chicago is bad. Especially Luongo.

I didn't see the first goal on Howard yet, so I can't comment on it. I started watching the game about 4 minutes into the first period. It looked like the same old Detroit team going out there absolutely flat in the first period. Stupid penalties most of the night. Thank the flying spaghetti monster that Phoenix can't seem to score on the power play.

Then the second period starts up and it's like Babcock lit a fire underneath them. They put pressure on Bryzgalov the rest of the night. And Phoenix couldn't answer the bell. Crash the net and Bryzgalov seems to get nervous.

That goal by Holmstrom was a head scratcher. He must have blinked at the wrong time or something, because that should have been saved.

Overall, I'll give the Red Wings a B-. They need to keep the pressure up on Phoenix all 60 minutes. Because had the Coyotes been able to convert just one of their 4 power plays, I'm sure I wouldn't be talking about a Detroit win this morning.

I disagree. I though the Wings played just as good in the first as they did in the 2nd. They just got a lot of bad breaks. The hooking and slashing calls were pretty soft. Datsyuk was an absolute beast on the penalty kills, throwing hits, stealing the puck, and breaking to the 'yotes net more than once. Had one of his (or Hudlers, or Helms) break aways produced a short handed goal, epsecially in that 5 on 3, people would be singing a different tune about the Wing's 1st period.

The first shot that got past Howard was a one timer bullet right into the upper corner from short range. The kind of shot that would have gotten past any goalie in the league. Overall he had a good game, nothing spectacular, but nowhere near the brain-dead performances he's had over the past month or two.

I'm still holding off on saying the Wings are back in true April form. I mean, its only Phoenix, and it is only one playoff game so far. We still have 10:30 PM road games ahead, well past Lidstrom's bedtime. But the again, the last time the Wings spent time out west, they played well.

the best defense is a good offense

Yeah, because that theory really worked last night. Not.

Yep, Anaheim has a bunch of a.holes on their roster and it'll be great when the Preds beat them. Rinne neutered the RPG line like a vet to wild strays.

You see Stamkos get leveled? That was great.

Pitt's defense is too strong for Tampa to handle, I'm predicting 5 games at most.

Yep, good win for Vancouver. Their defense was pretty good vs Chicago.

First period it was like going against a brick wall. I think Chicago found the holes in the second and third, but it requires sending the D deep into the zone and leaving them vulnerable for a counter attack. Line adjustments are going to play a huge role for Chicago. And Lou needs to not stand on his head + get lucky pole bounces.
