"it's always sunny in philadelphia" is what every philly sports fan is like in real life
I flew across the country 3 times around 2000, on expense account by my employer to Philadelphia. The one impression that stuck with me was that there sure were a lot of really fat people there.

Philly does historically have the worse fans, they turn on their teams INSTANTLY, hell they also get the "we threw snow balls as Santa, cuz fuck that jolly fat ass" mantle.
All teams have horrible/annoying/bandwagon fans. That's part of why kinda don't like being a Bay Area fan, SO many bandwagon 9er and Warrior fans. Oh you're a life long warriors fan, what was their previous mascot?
In my area the mantle of worse fans were Dallas, bars/restaurants were literally putting up signs on doors saying there were NOT showing the Dallas game because of repeated bad behavior from that fan base. Not the Raiders, who typically people assume are horrible fans, Dallas.

This has been stated to death. It was also before my time. But the so called "Santa Claus" was a drunk fan they pulled out of the stands for the half time show because the one they hired didn't show up. From what I've heard, it was a shitty game, a shitty season, and an all around shitty atmosphere. Not that that's an excuse for bad behavior.

Again, having been to games at the Linc (Lincoln Financial Field), and seeing plenty of fans with opposing team jersey's, I've never seen anything escalate to violence myself, though I know it happens. For the most part, it's a lot of sports related trash talk. I've seen plenty of fans in Washington, Dallas, and Giants jerseys in south Philly and Center City Philly

As for Philadelphia fans turning on their teams, considering the Eagles have had very good support from their last championship in 1960 until their latest one in 2017/18, I'd say that it's not true we turn on our teams instantly. The Flyers have had very good support until about the last 5 years, and their last championship was in 1975.

Thank you. We are loyal fans but when our teams play like shit they hear it. how many years did it take for andy reid not making it back to the super bowl before the fans turned on him? we gave him the benefit of the doubt for a LONG time. it was only when he kept making the same clock management mistakes in the playoffs that we all got sick of him. on the other hand, frauds like chip kelley and sam bradford can get the hell out of our city!

I mean I get it, but no other team has a hey we even fucked up Santa Claus to their credit. Every team has shit fans, I think every year I read about a story, even for baseball about fans beating a fan of another team to death in LA or SF. Like I get fan is short for fanatic, but holy shit. I don't get a check when my "team" wins, nor did I in any way shape or form help them win. I'd just like to watch a good game and have the refs stay out of it and enjoy the day. I just can't get into the head space of well my team lost, better make the rest of my day shitty because of it mind set.

I sometimes get depressed after a game, but generally rebound pretty quickly (i.e. within a day or less). I deal with it. They say that SB Sunday is the worst day in the year for domestic violence (i.e. men beating up women).

Wonder if it's more related to alcohol consumption? Or probably both?

Niners fans better hope the team has some kind of QB in the wings...

And with Purdy likely being out for a year following Tommy John surgery on the elbow...
They'll probably let Lance get a shot as more a business decision, as in the owners and league in general don't want a labor grievance for the 49ers depriving Lance a fair opportunity.

I almost never drink when observing sporting events. If I do, it's maybe 2-3 ounces of wine. I have been nursing a 750ml bottle of 2 buck chuck cab for around 3 months now (it's in the fridge). I do NOT have an alcohol problem. My last GF used to rag on me for watching sports on TV, insisted that it was a complete waste of time. I'm still ruminating about that one. No, I did not beat her up. :)

Well, there's Trey. But unless they improve the offensive line they better have a couple of others in mind. 3 QBs (not even counting Johnson in the championship game) were insufficient this last season.

NFL blew it when their expedited replay didn't overturn Smith's pass reception that led to the first Eagles TD:

They make a great case. They had all the angles. The TV viewers did not, the big screen at the stadium did not. But the guys doing expedited replay have all the angles (including the one that showed the pass was clearly incomplete) and it wasn't on Shanahan to throw the red flag. He should not have had to. It was obvious that it was an incomplete pass using the new systems. They blew it.

Path forward on the elbow is not clear at this time.

He did it once last year and thats it. Farve and Rodgers still have the mantle for QB's that waffle on retiring or not.
Tom's not as bad as those others. I'm not a fan of any of them.

Yeah, and they're always a sideshow.

I dislike Brady myself but when NY Giants or Mets players retired after signing a "1 day contract" with the team in the past I never complained so I'm not starting now.

Fan or not Brady had EASILY the greatest career of any NFL QB ever and clearly when folks picture him it's as a NE Patriot.

IMO the only "shitty" thing here is that the NFL doesn't just let the player choose the team he gets "retired" in/as no matter where they last played.

Idk I liked Brett Favre a lot AS A PLAYER despite all the crazy picks he threw. (garbage human being though!)
