My grandpa had the same surgery and he was up and about in less than a month. You should be great, medical technology really is a miracle these days!

Yes, probably many months but most of it will be done in my home and by myself.

Being a widower I will have some problems for at least a few weeks since there is no one here to help me.
Well, Jesus, it's not quite like having your leg amputated!

If you are healthy enough to have gone surfing recently, you should have no trouble recuperating from this.
Unless things have changed drastically, you will be off your feet for a while (albeit on crutches), and not exactly able to do everything as easily as before.
My Doc gave me a "lifetime guarantee"on mine and it's fine so far!

Let me get this straight Joe, you need a hip replacvement but you were surfing just recently? Man I bet 90% of the pussies here wouldn't be able to handle the temp of the water let alone surf with a bad hip. Good luck

Thanks for the wishes everyone.

Hello, Blade. Great to hear from you.

Red Dawn. I hadn't been in the water in years and yes it was cold. Was it ever.

Off to the hospital now. I have to walk up the street to a neighbor's house and he will take me to the (gulp) hospital. He will also babysit Fred while I'm gone.

Off I go.

I was surfing (the Pacific) on Wednesday
hahah you dog tryin to get in that last bit of fun eh? Anyways don't listen to that guy, he probably only told you that for legal liability, you will do fine, and be back on ATOT in no time (although probably a lot less since you will have much more mobility) Good Luck to you, and see you soon!

jadinolf -- Holy sh8! Somebody here's older than me. :Q Happy birthday. :)

Best of luck to ya. My Mom had hip replacement a few years ago. Any surgery is serious, but as they go, this is one of the more risk-free procedures with a very high success rate. :)

One last thing.. they told me that I would have to inject myself with a blood thinner twice a day for 15 days. Me do that? You've got to be kidding! Well, my first lesson was last night and the second was this morning. Now I'm on my own and I punch the needle in my belly at 10 tonight. As much as I was apprehensive, it's really a pice of cake -- no problem.

Lovenox? Great stuff isn't it. Made me nautious every time I did it. Just make sure you follow the directions, don't get it too close to your belly button.

Yep, that's it. Just gave my third fix at 10:00 P.M. I even was given a video which I suppose shows the procedure. Like manuals, I don't need no steenking video.

Thanks all.

Welcome back!!

"You realize that you could die during the surgery or it might leave you paralyzed, don't you?" "I'm going to give you a spinal and another injection in a nerve on your left side. You will be in severe pain for at least three days and this will help to relieve the pain"

Glad you proved that jerk-off WRONG.. ;)

I hope you gave him a piece of your mind.....AFTER the operation of course!!
