For the first time in over four years I bought computer components for a new PC locally and not from NewEgg. I suppose I got a little lucky in that a Fry's Electronics had a grand opening a week ago near me.
Fry's is the only retail compeditor newegg has IMO.

back on topic, I'm just saying newegg is defintely not the place for true great deals any more, at best they are equal to other stores and rely on fast delivery to get your business. And as I said, they do price gouge occasionally.

Ok...ok......I'm not Newegg's biggest fan right now but what they do with their pricing is normal. I've noticed Amazon doing the same thing. It's called supply and demand....it's part of life.
Now....for the people attacking this guy because his thread is somewhat anti-Newegg....GROW UP! Seriosly...the Newegg fanboys on here are some of the most annoying creatures on the planet. Newegg has faults, admit it. Yes they are a good online retailer, but there are other places to buy from that are every bit as good. In fact I just bought a new scanner & printer from Amazon instead of Newegg for a few reasons.

2. Amazon had a better price....much lower in fact on the scanner.
3. Free shipping from Amazon
4. Even with the free shipping my stuff will be here Tuesday after ordering on Friday. Amazon has a distribution center just north of Tulsa across the Oklahoma/Kansas border which means most things get to me next day when I order from Amazon.

Agreed, they do have a great selection and very good service, and the site is overall is quite good, especially the user product reviews feature (except that some users rate newegg's service insead of the product they supposedly bought).
As for the negative, there is the tax issue for CA residents. I wonder if amazon can start a computer components store and compete with newegg (like the previous post mentioned).
One more point about the price gouging, it's true that amazon changes their prices like newegg, but they never gouge, all they do is have temporary discounts (kind of like sales in b&m stores, but on a per product basis, and with flexible timing). For example, I doubt amazon will start raising prices and go above msrp just because of high demand.

Newegg is by far one of the best internet computer parts place you can order from. They are usualy one of the cheapest, but even if they are not on some parts I am not playing the idiot game anymore. Simple fact is that I can't order from Newegg and the part is not in stock. With others I have waited weeks even if the part showed as in stock. I never had a problem with calling newegg and always reached a real life person to answer my questions about a order or a return. They don't jerk you around but stick to their policys.
If you don't enjoy paying for a part what the current market value suggests please stay away from Newegg for a while and shop around. Best of luck to yah, I hope you will ever see your part in the time promissed!

what will they gouge next ? right now they are charging $40.99 for the new Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer which has just been released with MSRP of $29.95, because availability is still very low.

People are high on NewEgg because they have a history of having very good prices compared to elsewhere and as you have said, great, fast service. Aren't those good things? Sure they to use the term you seem to be obsessed with "gouge" once in awhile on a hot selling item. When they do that, don't buy it!I just find your argument very nitpicky. Why aren't you crying about Amazon who in my experience seems gauge more than NewEgg does. You could probably find flaws in every company but it's still hard to beat NewEgg most of the time and that's why people stick with them.
