He seems to be a pro at thread crapping... especially on the FS/FT forums.

Here, lowballing in the thread...
Here, lowballing and dissuading other people from buying...
Here, publicly posting that the seller's price is too high...
Here, publicly posting that the seller's price is too high... (actually accused the seller of price gouging, which is what he's accusing NewEgg of doing)
and Here, again, publicly posting that the seller's price is too high - said he can get it cheaper on eBay.

For those of you who know me, I rarely post anything negative about *anyone*, but this guy deserves the Asshat of the Month award. :|

just to correct your wild theories and bring you back to reality - I actually did buy it on ebay (last weekend) for exactly $30 plus $5 shipping, so that's why I said $35.

He's not gone (as you can see from his recent posts) - the mods either banned him or gave him a vacation, but later reconsidered and just gave him a strong warning. :(

I just hope he does it again.

He will. We are talking about User1234 after all. He is the most anoying person we have had here for a long time, and he will do something to get himself banned.

I just can't believe he thinks he a freakin' mod after being here a month!

Newegg is a good vendor, and they adjust their pricing with supply and demand. I realize that on the collective, the politburo kept pricing controls on things, but here in America, the free market reigns.

While I appreciate the good service, and the prices generally being lower than other stores, at least the other stores are content to have a fixed profit margin, and never take advantage of high demand to gouge.

BWAHAHAHAHA!

What are you going to do to me if I don't show a high degree of civility?

ok... I'll play along.

I cordially invite you to engage to sexual intercourse with yourself.

How's that?

Aren't you the same little punk who was accusing some other company of bait and switch because they changed the price on some preorders and notified everybody before proceeding...and then began attacking anybody who suggested otherwise by calling them names?

Be careful - we are all expected to show a high degree of civility. You don't want to make the self-appointed mod angry. You won't like him when he gets angry.

Back to serious discussion, I know some CC companies (MasterCard for example), will credit you the difference between the price you paid and the lowest price in a 14-30 day period (depends on card) from the same vendor.

Plus, sometimes just the threat of that is enough to get the money back from the original vendor, as the "price match" comes from a chargeback against the vendor's account. I used that to save myself $15 at Z-Buy.com on the Hauppauge 28552 PVR cards.

And on the tangental discussion, no one should be lecturing on forum rules when they've been here < 1 year.

Oh yeah, and Dopefiend: From your flaming lesson, it's spelled coherently, not coherantly.

Heck no, I don't want to upset him. He might post at the top of the thread that I'm no longer allowed to post in this thread anymore! :Q

Just to let you know, the Doom 3 I purchased on ebay for $30 (+$5 shipping) is an original brand new US copy in a sealed box with manuals and everything. At the time, it was going for $35 + S&H on ebay, so it was a good deal, and newegg was charging more than msrp (what a surprise). They lowered their price now to 49.99 but you can still get it for cheaper even in retail. I would guess that the wholesale price is somewhere between 30-40, so figure how much of a profit margin those retailers make. I know damn well this is basic economics, supply and demand, free market, etc but still I can't help being annoyed by it.

It doesn't matter; posting that information in someone's FS/FT thread is the precise definition of thread crapping.

And if Newegg can get that much money for Doom 3, more power to them. You speak with your wallet; if you don't want to purchase from them, then don't. If people stop buying Doom 3 from Newegg, Newegg will either lower their price or wait it out.
