Newegg's dynamic pricing fluctuations

They seem to incorporate gouging logic into their web store, as the price of any hot selling item immediatly goes up. Sometime they go up so much, it's more expensive than most other places. Also, even regular products seem to inch up in price, and then go back down (probably because of slowing sales). While I appreciate the good service, and the prices generally being lower than other stores, at least the other stores are content to have a fixed profit margin, and never take advantage of high demand to gouge.

Price discrimination is widely practiced to maximize profits.

I'm not suggesting this violates any rules, and I understand it's a good way to maximize profits, but it's damn annoying

Amazon.com and a few other online stores (buy.com, i think) do the same thing.

i'm just trying to keep this discussion civilized so people can benefit from it and express their opinions freely, so please refrain from using any extreme language on this thread, and don't post if you don't have anything useful to add on this topic.

The only thing that bothered me was when they reduced the price of a modem that I had bought by 20 bucks. :(

They only bother me when I click on an item, have to wait 3 weeks for the page to load, and then when it does load, the item is more expensive. ;)

Also, many times the user reviews on newegg concentrate on their experience with newegg's service, rather than on the product, which defeats the whole purpose of relying on user opinions to help in the product buying decision. I mean, I read the user reviews and ratings to decide which product to buy, not to hear over and over how quickly some idiot received it. Also, I heard a rumor that newegg filters the reviews to choose which ones get posted, so this could mean that the average ratings may be unreliable. Still, it's a good thing to have the option of reading other peoples opinion, especially if they concentrate on the product which they actually bought (and used for more than 5 minutes).
