Schools might close for Muslim holidays, Google might be waging a war on Christmas....

Incorruptible, did it ever occur to you that the problem isn't necessarily with the things that you're pissed off at and more with the fact that you're a whiny idiot bitch who gets upset at insignificant things?

There are always going to be idiots attacking those they disagree with. The schools try to downplay and avoid Christmas by using the holiday season, holiday trees, winter break, happy holidays to take out religion yet here they have no problem with religion.

Also to the idiots comparing this with Christmas, Christmas is much different and almost everything is shut down for Christmas and there are lots of non-Christians who celebrate Christmas. In some ways Christmas has become more about gifts than religion.

They take Good Friday off, but under a different non-demoniminational name. Likewise, Christmas is Winter break. Thanksgiving is still Thanksgiving, thank goodness.

So yeah, I agree with incorruptible. I think he's an idiot most of the time, but NONE of these religious holidays should be holidays specifically. Or they all should. Take your pick, one or the other. You can't cherrypick the most popular religions and just give those holidays, because it smacks of blatent bias.

Incorruptible is from Canada. He only knows the things of which he receives a feed. He doesn't learn about schools closing for Jewish holidays because he doesn't hate jews.

Well.... Given the furor which added holidays are having... And the near inevitability of more segments demanding days for themselves... Viewed against a backdrop of US students performing ever more poorly vis a' vis their counterparts in other nations... And the ever declining competitiveness which an increasingly under skilled workforce will have in the years to come... Not to mention the resulting decline in government tax revenues due to uncle Sam having to settle for smaller percentages of smaller wages in the face of increasing demands for assistance...


Clearly, the only reasonable and fair solution is to abolish both religious and secular holidays entirely until such time as our collective offspring manage to retake the world leading positions which their forebears earned.

Earned? Let's not get carried away here. America was the one nation that emerged from WW2 not in complete shambles because war never came to its mainland. That generation of Americans did great things, but they did them under extraordinarily favourable conditions.
 
By the time we get around to including every religion's holiday there won't be any school days left and they'll wonder why nobody learns anything. But they'll insist that raising property taxes to bring in more money for the school will fix it.
 
A lot of NJ schools also close for Eid. Because so many Muslim teachers and students are absent and it becomes difficult to reschedule things.

My daughter the math teacher enjoyed the day off.

Seems about right, we are starting to get a sizable Muslim population in my neighborhood now.

Muslims are no more extreme than Christians or Jews. The problem is with extremists, and lord knows all 3 branches have plenty of them to make the rest look bad.
 
It's not like taking these days off deprives kids of instructional time, all it does is shift days off from the summer to other months (which, by the way, several studies show is advantageous for US students).

Do you agree that schools should not close for Christian holidays, regardless of what name they are given? Naw, of course you don't. You piss and moan just because they call it "Winter break" instead of "Christmas, formally the pagan holiday of the Winter Solstice, break".

But hey, lets make it fair. Lets just give the days off numbers. Whatever the fuck muslim holiday they are talking about can be called "day off of school #whatever", same thing for all of the Christian holidays.

Well they ARE educational institutions. They should be teaching factually correct stuff and not teaching blatant bullshit. Regardless of what religion you believe in the above stuff about Xmas has absolutely nothing to do with Christ and was actually stolen from Pagan religion. Why do you want schools to teach falsehoods about the religion you believe in?
