Wow. Texas dropped three spots too. I guess even winning close games against Div-1AA is unacceptable.

Twenty-two of the 60 head coaches kept the Wolverines on their ballots ? one putting them 10th ? but the total points were not high enough to keep them from disappearing from the rankings for the first time since the end of the 2005 season.

nice! glad to see they dropped out. I expected they'd end up around 20 with all the suck ups...

A little annoyed that despite leading auburn at home until 2 minutes were left in the game that Kansas State lost all 8 votes we had a week ago, and yet Auburn moves up 5 spots.

Auburn only moved up 1 spot (from 14 to 13).

Wow, no respect from the pollsters for 2 time I-AA champions, Appalachian State. :frown:

They may not be able to beat all teams ranked below michigan, but certainly would beat quite a few more if had the chance. I'm not a michigan fan, but they probably atleast deserve to be in the top 25.

Time will tell I guess.

My guess would be all the big 10 coaches, and the coaches of all the other teams that michigan is playing.

We are getting screwed at penn state this year. Michigan and Notre Dame were supposed to be some of our good games, but now even if we win those it doesnt mean anything.

I was reading somewhere that pollsters aren't even allowed to give any votes to App. State. It's simply not an option.

I'd say they're probably only allowed 1 more loss, maybe two, depending on how well they beat some of the better teams on their schedule in order for them to jump back up into the top 25.

I'm aware of that but it shouldn't automatically mean that a team like michigan, that gets beat by I-AA's best, is automatically not worthy of the top 25 div1 rankings.

Appalachian State is awesome (atleast have been for the last 2 years), and even tho they aren't eligible for the top 25 div 1-A poll, it's nonsense imo to take Michigan out of the top 25 because of a loss to them.

While its embarrassing and unpopular for michigan to be beaten by an unranked team, they really aren't a typical unranked team and deserve far more respect than is was presumed by the pollsters by taking Michigan out of the rankings.

I think Michigan should drop to maybe #15, but instead of slamming them into oblivion, people should be admitting that Appalachian State is much better than people have given them credit for.

Last year, Appalachian State was ranked in the mid 40s to the mid 50s in several computer rankings.

That makes them better opponents than 8 of the other 9 top 10 teams played (USC, LSU, West Virginia, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, and Louisville, and arguably better then Wisconsin's opponent WSU).
