Man it's taking forever to install. 4gb update finished in minutes but the install looks like it's moving so slow it may as well be stuck.

Finally got to go through the game. It's a lot of fun I'm just horrible at it in general. Having never played a spiderman game the controls are awkward to me. Took me a while to get the web slinging down and combat is pretty tough on the normal difficulty. I've been so used to the Batman combat that this one is a little bit different. I'm usually confused when the time comes use triangle to web slinging enemies or r1 to get them stuck with the web.

It is fun after some practice and I need more of it to get familiar. Overall it's really enjoyable to swing through the city. The detail is really nice in certain parts and buildings are nicely placed too. It makes it so much faster to be able to parkour over stuff. I've been going around collecting backbacks and doing side objectives like the police radio mini misisons.

I agree that the Spidey senses dodge icon should appear sooner. I often get pummelled because of this. Oh and when you do get hit, you get hit nicely that takes a chunk out of your health. I'm enjoying it a lot so far.

As a native new Yorker living on the Lower east side, they could have made the city more accurate. It's a blast swinging by your neighborhood but it's no where near accurate .

That was one of the complaints about the game, the city isn't necessarily accurate and it's not like there is really a reason for it not to be. The MCU and comics establish that Spider-Man is in NYC pretty clearly. It's not like say Batman with a "Gotham City" or Superman in "Metropolis". Spider-Man is set in a real place.

A real place that has added buildings like Stark tower, various embassies of marvel races, and other stuff. At some point you have to sacrifice the accuracy because you're still in a fantasy world, even if it's a fantasy NYC

One of the best things about the game is you can go to the settings and turn off chromatic aberration , turn off film grain, and turn the qte’s off. I don’t mind qte events if you have a certain period of time to complete them but needing to be precisely on point with them like you’re playing a music game is stupid so I turned them off. I just played yakuza zero recently and that game had qtes during fights but it was on a timer, you had like 5 seconds to press the correct button. This game does it stupidly where you have to wait for the circle to get down to the button icon and press it at a specific time. Hate that. So basically all the qtes will complete automatically without you needing to press anything. Leaving you free to view the action. You can also skip the puzzles if you wanted as well but I leave those on.

I do like the graphics options though. I don’t know why in the hell developers think adding fake camera effects like film grain helps a video game.

No wonder why I was pressing the qte buttons and some time I would fail them. I didn't bother turning off those effects as it looks nice and sharp and usually didn't bother me with the film grain like battlefield 5 has. I'll expirement with them off and see if there is a difference.

Having a blast in the game. I unlocked my first suit and I have 2 others I think that came with my preorder. The combat I'm still rusty on, so I need to do more side missions so I can get better. But I haven't been bored yet.

The game is so good. I didn't expect much from the story or voice acting, but everything I've heard so far has been great from the main characters.

As more gadgets open up, combat is getting a little more exciting. Sticking guys to walls with the impact web is a nice option, and the web grenade can really help get out of a jam if the crowd is big enough.

My only complaint is that despite unlocking quite a few suits to see what their powers are like, nothing so far seems as useful as the quick focus regeneration that I started the game with.

There are two suit powers you want. One is web blossom from the repaired original suit. It shoots webs out in a 360 degree pattern and hits everyone in the area. You can sometimes take out a whole crowd of guys if you get surrounded. The second is the spider bro from the stark suit which is a drone that shocks enemies in the area and the shockwave chains between them. You can launch it out, jump back and watch the fireworks and then clean up the leftovers. Both are super OP.

I’ve been using the Dark Suit from the Black Cat stakeout missions and spider bro as my go-to combo. The black and red really stand out on the suit. It’s from the comic where Spider-Man meets Deadpool.

I think I have the iron man spider suit. I've been running around in the advanced one so far just due to the focus regeneration so I can get better at combat.

I'm about 20% through the game, played as Marry Jane for the first time and I have almost all the backpacks and a few landmarks left to photograph. I also ended up doing 2 side missions that were actually labeled 'side mission'.

There are still 2 towers left I have to fix or maybe 3. Anyone know if there are more side stuff to do later? Because right now my only other option besides unlocking the 2 or 3 other towers is to continue the story.

I've tried the spider-bro power, and I agree it's effective but I think they balanced it out with a longer recharge timer on that one specifically. I couldn't use it as often so I didn't find it as useful. I haven't tried the web shooting one yet since I already had the grenades which seemed good enough, but I'll give it a go.

Yes, you're missing several other collectibles and side missions that open up as you progress through the story. Sounds like you still need to unlock the research stations which have been pretty fun (and there's a lot of them), the dove collectibles which spawn after one of those blue side missions, and the black cat side-story which unlocks as you continue through the story as well. More of those blue side missions pop up as you continue the story too, usually a new one pops up after you get through another main story mission. You're also missing challenge tokens which I haven't unlocked either, so I'm not sure how far in those start popping up.

Oh, also the base tokens (not sure if you have those yet as they unlock pretty early on, but you didn't mention them)

Also, once you unlock a new spider suit, you also unlock its power for use with any other suit. So if you're only using the advanced suit because you like focus regen, you can still equip that power with any other suit you unlock.

The base tokens you can get from the construction sites. I did two of them and have not done the others yet because the amount of enemies in there is pretty intense.

Sounds like I just have to continue the story to unlock the research station. I thought that was the microscope and tablet in Dr. Otto's lab. Since I've done two side misisons, the police tower jammers and the spiderman PI side missing, I have not seen anything about doves.

Just unlocked fast-travel. Will continue finding the various backpacks and side mission stuff before I embark on the Black-cat missions.

You might be able to get some research tokens from the lab, but the bulk of them are from the research stations. They're just little mini-missions that add a little variety to everything else you're doing, but I like them. They should be the next thing you unlock IIRC out of everything I listed. The doves unlocked a couple of missions later with one of the side missions. Nabbing the doves also give you research tokens, but they're mainly another collectible that'll be fun to find 100%

Only a few hours in, but this is as fun as I was hoping it would be. Waited a long time for this level of graphics in a spider-man ("don't forget the hyphen") game. Web slinging is fulfilling, and the combat system looks fairly deep. Going to string this play-through out and avoid buying more skills as long as possible,
still on the first raggedy suit. Beating a big gang with machine guns and tank class fighters is challenging without a bunch of extra powers/skills to rely on, I have only spent 6 points, and I am going to perfect these moves and how to best combo them before moving on. Only on the early mission of unlocking all the towers and eliminating all the crimes in the area.

This should keep my PS4pro from being a dust collector until RDR2 gets here.

As you go through the story you get more actual side missions unlocked. That’s how you gain access to the black cat stakeouts too. You will also end up getting research lab missions as well.

The doc Octavius stuff is separate from the research stations. The research stations are from harry Osborne and you get them later.

I’ve done all the towers, all the backpacks, all the landmarks, all the construction sites, all the research stations, all the thug crimes, all the denon crimes, and the black cat stakeouts so far.

Fast travel is awkward in a way. Seeing Spider-Man just sitting on the subway all suited up with a bunch of random people who ignore him like he is just another passenger is a bit odd. Especially so if you have one of the more exotic suits. Imagine spirit Spider-Man sitting next to you on the subway complete with blue flames coming from his head.

Ah thanks so I still have stuff to do. Will continue the story. I was worried that I was going to be done sooner than I expected. Trying to make this last a month until read dead 2.

I don’t think it’ll last a month to be honest. People got 100% in around 25 hours. Though it would depend on how much time you spend on it. If you play daily you’ll finish fast.

I would love to play this game but I'm never getting a PS4. Gotta wait for my cousin to finish it so I can borrow his console.

Yea I've been also starting other games on PC to avoid ending the game too soon. Still need to finish Arkham Knight, not 100% but at least the story and the last tomb raider before shadow comes out.

As I play more I begin to realize the flaws. The camera during combat forces me to franticly press O to dodge because I can’t see what is coming. Also the web swinging leaves just a little bit to be desired with its imprecise turning corners and fighting the camera a bit. While doin certain missions I am forced to swing around wildly because I cannot precisely move to the point I need.
