Hanford is 200 miles south of this site and Grand Coulee dam is 40 miles north. The dudes on peakoil.com are bustin my ass because I'm on the Columbia river. They believe that GC is a target for a nuclear attack. I don't believe that-though it does provide millions of KW power to the west coast. The doomers piss me off.

I had heard something about big plans in the Moses Lake area. That city is fairly wired.
Down here in Tri-Cities, we don't wish for a huge, fast increase in property values. Slow and steady wins the race!

I spent about 2 years working at Hanford...WPPS 1, 2, and (4)? Can't remember which ones were at Satsop. (3 & 5?) Yeah, the dam COULD be a target...it has been since the early days of the cold war. BUT, there's LOTS of good nuk-u-ler targets all over Washington...you're not THAT far from Fairchild...

Auggie and eos.

The port of Quincy is huge now and 2 years ago i wanted to build a server facility that utilized the cheap power and the dark fiber that was available. It's now done. I couldn't raise the capital.

Well testing this week. Paul A contacted Sam Izrael about the rest of the property around soap lake-going to send an email.

Talked to the owner about the well today. It's a 300ft well with the water table incipience at 100ft-it's getting checked next tuesday.

Y'know, I kinda get the impression that if terrorists ever did get their hands on nuclear weapons, they'd go for something a lot more visible than some dam. Like the Statue of Liberty, or Sears Tower or something.

I doubt it's a terrorist target, but Grand Coulee was a target for over 20 years during the Cold War...Probably still targeted by Russian and Chinese nukes...

neat place!

Thanks 🙂 Looking into spelt, camalinas, and a small organic garden (an acre or so), also a decent windbreak on the north and west side of the property. Soil fertile and hasn't been chemically treated!

Thanks for making my day! I'm 2 miles from there.

This part of the United States can support Lemon/Pecan/Apple/and Fig.

I think that the windbreak is the most important.

Rogo...not Fairfield, but Fairchild AFB...just west of Spokane...still not very close, but when you're playing with horseshoes, hand grenades, and nuclear weapons, close enough really is...😉
Besides, should THAT nightmare ever come to pass, (I doubt it will, unless we REALLY piss off our Chinese owners) there are SO MANY targets in Washington that it won't make too much difference...and living near a HUGE Microsoft facility might make you ground zero...😱 LOL! Sleep well 😉

Fortunately or Unfortunately this is home. I have lived in a few other states, traveled to a few others and there is nowhere else that feels like it.

I believe that this homestead is the best I can do.

I'm north of Hanford and the Microsoft facility, though south of GC.

I am not really worried about a nuclear strike north of this property-if it comes to that then the whole country is probably fvcked.
