Wrong

Pro 100 is not the same as Pro2a

The Pro 100 is a K7T Pro (not 2 or 2a)
bundled with a Promise ATA100 Controller
Card with no bios.

The motherboard bios has functions for the card.

I have a friend who has a Pro100 he's selling
to get a Pro2a

Can't imagine him doing such a thing if they were
the same

Thanks flyfish, good info. I really want to get this running smooth before I crank it up a little. hehe

VIA's website, got the link?

Penchie,

Thanks for the correction. Somewhere I had read they were one and the same. Guess I got bad information.

no problem

A lot of people wonder why MSI ever did the Pro 100
and I suspect it's because they didn't expect to be
releasing an ATA100 in the pro2 for a while which they have.

Asus A7V was able to say they had ata100, so this
was a quick and easy way for MSI to say they had
it also, albiet with an add on card from Promise
which anyone can buy for 30.00 with the bios

Not an optimal solution, but with the Pro2a, we no
longer need to even consider it.

thanks

I saw some reseller is selling a Pro2 with ATA 100

i called them and ask if it is a Pro2 or a Pro2A

they said that is a Pro2.

is person wrong or that mobo is come with a bundle ATA controller??

Jimmy: for some reason when I turned it on this morning there was no slowdown and it booted from floppy. You were right; it was some weird fluke.

W9,

Good to here it....It sounds like your floppy might need a replacement. I hate those intermittent problems....if it's broke, then it should stay broke, not work one minute and not the next.

The different flavors of the 6330 boards (k7t pro)
are these excluding the micro atx board also available:

K7t Pro (lacks multiplier adjustments)

K7t Pro 100 (same as above but bundled with promise biosless ata100 controller card. Bios on board controls the card, much like an onboard highpoint or promise chip would be controlled)

K7T Pro2
added bios multiplier adjustments among other improvements
but did not support ata100 and did not have an official
version bundled with the card as in pro 100. This is still a
somewhat elusive board availabilitywise.

K7T Pro2a
same as above but with the 686b southbridge providing
native ata100 support. Should be noted that the box
clearly sez Pro 2a, the board has a sticker on the
southbridge that sez ata100, so if the dealer said
pro2 100, then he must either be mistaken and have a 2a
or he might be home brewin his own 2a by bundling a 2
with a promise or highpoint card and cable.

hope this helpz

Thanks Penchie. That should help out the new guys!

OK TIME TO FRIGGIN RANT! I ordered my Pro2A from Openlinx on 11.20.00. It ships on 11.21.00 via UPS 3-day select. Today is 11.30.00. Guess what, I still don't have it!!!!!!!! Even with Turkey Day and the long weekend, it should have been here by 11.28.00 AT THE LATEST!

I emailed OpenLinx to request a refund on shipping charges and they stonewall saying that UPS routed it wrong. That's not my problem, I paid for 3-Day Select and I should get 3-Day select as advertised and promised by Openlinx. They refund my shipping and then recoupe the fee from UPS as this is an issue between them, not between me and UPS and Openlinx.

Guess I better fire up my browser and head on over to reseller ratings...

Everyone ordered the 2a from openlinx because
for a few days they were the only game in town
if u wanted one now.

They shipped mine, it arrived unscathed and ontime
so you'd think I'd be singing their praises.

You'd be wrong

Their return policy absolutely screams "WE DON'T LIKE CUSTOMERS"
The sum total of their policies are "when we get yer money,
we're not giving it back.....noooo mattter whut!"

Their only concession at all in the case of dissatisfaction
is to replace a defective item for one of the same. and even that's
only for 30 days.

Returns for refund are not even worth talking about.....according to them.

So...........

Next time they release a hot product a little early, we'll probably
order from em again on a whim.....but for the stock and flow products,
steer clear of em. It's a no customer satisfaction zone.

I can always have my CC company withold payment to Openlinx
until they rectify the situation...

Muuhahahahahaha!!!!

Well, I just opened another email from Openlinx, this one stating that will request refund after the package is delivered...TOMORROW!

Well we are gettin closer...

I ordered mine yesterday from Spartan Technologies with UPS ground shipping and I received it today. They may still have a few left if anyone is still looking - $131 shipped.

OD,

Damn the man....fight the good fight for all of us. If FedEx would lower there prices a bit, they would kill UPS. I ship anything I can Fedex....it arrives at the exact same time 10:30am on the dot. UPS...well, anytime between 3:00pm and 7:00pm and usually 2-3 days later. Infact, I usually select USPS over UPS if I have the choice....it never takes longer than three days....even from Florida to Oregon.

Hope you get your bucks back! and have fun installing tomorrow.

Hey Jimmy,

What is the status of puttin a blue orb on the northbridge? Did the holes line up o.k.?

Thanks Chief!

OD,

The Blorb hasn't gotten here yet. The dang thing is one state up, and it is taking UPS more than three days. I ordered it Sunday night....with ups ground (3-day was too much for an orb and some paste) It is now Wednesday and no blorb. UPS tracking says it's in Portland...which is 50 miles from where it started and 75 miles from me. Tomorrow by 2:00 is what I'm guessing.

I'll do a quick line up check for the holes and let you know.

Hey guys let me get your advice on something.I will be putting together my first AMD rig(been using intel forever)with a 800Mhz T-bird I have coming.I was going to go with the A7V until I read your posts and read some info on the K7T Pro2A and decided to go with it instead.

Ok my question is,out of the companies below who should I buy from?I was gonna go with Spartantech because they had good prices but their reseller ratings are a mixed bag.

www.ccusaonline.com
www.openlinx.com
www.spartantech.com
outsideloop.com

Outsideloop looks like a dependable company but their prices are a little higher than the rest.I have never bought from any of these companies so your input will be appreciated greatly.

Thanks in advance.

pcprogress.com also shows to have the board in stock
for 124 plus 12 ship

I got mine for $1 less total at openlinx
although I'm not impressed with their
customer return policies, at the time
they were the only store that had it.

Now if u have a choice, I think you'll
protect yourself to call first and
confirm stock and place order on phone.
Then follow up with your credit card co.
if there's any runaround.

thanks

I ordered mine from Spartech on Tues. Called them today and I should have it tommorrow, they say it's on schedule. I'll let'ya know.
