It was. She shares my opinion that it is a waste to have that many people. Ours was really nice and we had open bar at our reception and filet mignon too.

We had choices of two open bar packages -- the first included EVERYTHING (beer, wine, hard liquor) and the second option was just beer and wine. We did the beer and wine option because that's pretty much what everyone would drink anyway and it was significantly cheaper.

We were married in the Indiana Statehouse, in front of the Christmas tree under the rotunda. My wife is a huge fan of Christmas and even though she initially thought a Christmas wedding wasn't something she wanted, she warmed up to it.

It depends on the size of the reception and if everyone is a drinker or not. In general, you'd nearly always save money by buying your own booze and hiring a bartender, but that can be a hassle. Also, some reception venues may not allow that so you'd have to check to make sure. I think our two options came out to something like $22 per head (beer and wine) or $35 per head (everything). $22 per head was pretty reasonable and I think most of us drank that much if not more.

So I talked to my friend last night, and it turns out, if I make it through Calculus this summer (ha. ha. ha.), we'll be in the same classes this fall, or at least mostly the same classes. Be pretty awesome to have someone in class I know, instead of sitting there detesting everyone else.
