I kept hearing "Unforgiven" in it, which isn't bad. I thought it was pretty good, a lot better than anything out there now, although I don't think it's up to par with their older stuff - but I like it.

They're just too over-the-hill at this point. I was a die hard Metallica fan back in the day but man.. they're nothing but disappointing these days.

It's like seeing Superman reduced to doing infomercials.

Could be worse, could be Cake.

At least Cake hasn't put out any shitty records, can't say the same of Metallica ;)
Cake's a novelty band and belong on shows like Dr Demento.

I couldn't say that about Cake.

The cake is a lie.

The song isn't on there anymore. It leads off with Cyanide now. :(

I heard part of it on the radio last night. They need to either find a new vocalist (and lyricist) or just go full instrumental.

They're playing it again.

It fscking rocks!

What the fuck is wrong with you people?

It's good music! How dare you compare it to 80s Metallica? That isn't the point of music.

BTW:

The album's first single, "The Day That Never Comes", is described as the most downbeat track on the album, and is said to be reminiscent of their 1990 Grammy-winning epic breakthrough single "One;" Rock Sound has also compared it to the likes of Thin Lizzy.[34] The band have reportedly abandoned the solo-free approach that they followed on St. Anger, returning to complex, multi-layered arrangements such as those typically found on the band's fourth album ...And Justice for All.

It's decent, but it's slow. And the singing is a step down. And it sounds like a drum track in the 2nd half of the song. If someone is actually playing the drum, they can fire him and replace him with a track. Thats for the day that never comes.

I will admit that the vocals and lyrics are weak, but the music! is badass.

I love the Iron Maiden-esque harmonized fills...

cool, now they simply need to buy Lars a snare drum so he can stop playing on the trash can lid, and we are good to go

Agreed. Great lyrics as well.

Fortunately I missed the memo where they exhumed the corpses of the band formerly known as Metalllica so they could release yet another craptacular album. They really just need to go away now.

Hmm, I'll have to give it a better listen sometime. I mostly paid attention to the vocals, which I thought was terrible. I'll wait to judge when I've heard the final CD.

Oh, and since, sadly, it actually needs to be asked. Do they have guitar solos on the new album?
