i think how you described that is an over-exaggeration, most teens in high school could find a use for some of those features you spefified as not simple or important to the average joe. I guess i may just be judging from myself and my own current freshman friends, but then again I'm posting on anadtech and my friends play WoW all day, so i guess that doesn't really count. :brokenheart:
Anyways, sooner or later the general population will begin to become more tech-savy, and we'll see what happens. oh, and...
+It's bad ass! I get turned heads walking down the hallways with that thing! *cheers*
Have you ever worked retail.. or specifically, tech retail? Or done desktop support or the equivalent? I don't have any faith in the general public getting tech savy in the near future. Maybe 15, 20 years. Maybe. People want things to just work. And they don't want to do any work (or do the least possible) to use it. Now there's a lot of personal bias for ya 🙂
I have not, hence comment of myself being in my high school frshman year, but i hope to work at best buy or something, maybe compusa, so i'll soon find out =)

I assume the iPod Touch = iPhone minus the phone part?
essentially, though it is a little thinner than the iPhone.
I'm disappointed. Here I was, thinking the new iPod Touch would draw me to the dark side (even though I just recently bought a Zune), but since its only 8 and 16gb, with the 16gb being $399, I shall stay away for even longer. It's nice seeing the new iPod Classic having a price tag of only $249 for 80gb, considering my 30gb Zune cost about $230. But yea, the whole no HDD thing for the Touch is ridiculous, even if it means it gets to be real thin.

They need to release some smaller and cheaper ones. No way am I paying that much for something that plays music (I have a $30 mp3 player from 3 years ago)

Apple is like MS for rich kids. Having said that, I do agree they make kick ass MP3 players. However, I don't care too much for their computers (except for design) and phones (including design)

Actually, that's a good point. I gotta look at the iPhone dissection article on Anandtech again, because I don't remember if Apple used a single chip wifi+bluetooth solution or if they are separate. If single-chip, than there's no excuse really.Originally posted by: Linux23
Why oh Why didn't Apple include Bluetooth on this?:|

they should have put the camera into the 16GB ipod touch.
They need to make a MEDIA iPod Touch that's a little fatter, but has 160GB of storage. for $350.
I'd buy that in a heart beat, though I don't care if it has a camera.
I don't care if it's bigger, I just want to have 100GB's or more dammit!

yea camera is pointless. who's cell doesn't already have that? it would be redundant. if it were a nice sensor and lense it would jack the price into hell along with the form factor, if it werent than it would be a pos and pointless again.
as for cowon, i wonder how much lead paint that device contains😉

Count your blessings mr fingolfin.

Neither can I. No devices or media capable of storage can enter or leave my office. (CD's have to be checked and scanned before entering, none can leave)

How long until the iPod Touch gets a bump in it's storage capacity? (2 months?) 🙂
16GB is only 6GB more storage than the 1st generation iPod offered... pathetic!
When i saw the iPhone i decided that my first iPod would be the Touch version
as soon as it was released... bit i can't spend $400 dollars for 16GB.

whats so great about blutooth? the only widely accepted use is earset for cellphones. wifi is ubiquitous and has the range and speed. bluetooth is mostly redundant. cordless headphones are mostly a horrible joke anyways.
anyways the super high density pixel screen for the new nano is interesting. super sharp! as for the thinner ipod touch, its not insignificant, as small as ipods are, the bigger models still are kind of clunky because of the thickness.
i don't get people that b*tch about apple drm then buy a zune. apple atleast stands up to the music/media companies and keeps prices low and restrictions to a minimum and keeps pushing them. microsoft bent over on day one and paid preemptive royalties on its zune😛 thats just sad..
