New FX show Tyrant

My biggest problem with it was how naive the family other than the Dad of coarse seem to be about a middle eastern dictactorship. It was like they have never watch a news channel before. They all acted like going to visit sweet grampa the dictator would be happy fun times.

this show is just alright. i'll keep watching a few episodes. it reminded me of the bridge in the sense that it was not great but good enough to keep me watching, except that i stopped watching the bridge after like 6 episodes because it was just so bad.

the acting in this show is bad too. and so much of the dialog just seems so fake/forced. i noticed how every time the main dude would talk to his wife, she would be like 'oh no you have to the exact opposite of what you just said". literally almost every time, she did that. it just got really annoying.

also the tough guy face of the main guy that he is trying to hold just screams fake. i dunno something about the acting is just very painful to watch in this show. when the brother tried to force the road head on the girl too, or saw if the girl was pure ... just tough to watch such bad acting, especially on a channel like FX where i'm used to the shield, sons of anarchy, the americans, and other shows.

It wasn't good. The writing is weak so all of the characters came off as very shallow caracitures. It was just the pilot, but I don't have a lot of hope for the rest of the season based on what I saw.

Which is too bad, because I think it's an excellent idea and the timing is right for a show with this setting.

I USUALLY like FX shows, but there's something about this one that says, "No fucking way I'm watching this shit."

Yeah, I wanted to like this show...but...I don't. It's just not very good and for the most part very poorly acted as well. Oh well.

Caught up with the 3 episodes, must say its a weak cheesy show with lot of loop holes but its entertaining none the less, entertaining enough to keep watching, pretty good, fresh premises :thumbsp:

But its a cheap rip off of God father. Godfather in middle east. Might as well have named Sammy as Michael and that way we could call Barry "Abu Michael"

i watched it and it was ok. the wife and older son acting is going to be a thorn for me.

I just watched the pilot and agree, the wife and son are quite annoying, it's too bad because the rest of the cast seems solid thus far.

it ain't no Homeland.

Some similarities, though, with the family and the two teenage kids. Hopefully they'll avoid the same pitfalls that dragged Homeland down - the sappy story lines following the kids, in particular.

This has the potential to be better than Homeland.

last nights episode was my favorite so far. it felt like the first episode that wasn't only just setting up groundwork. so i'll definitely continue to watch.

but man the acting in this show is really painful to overlook. it's really really bad with some characters. the son and his boyfriend ... holy shit that scene was tough to watch, and not just because its 2 gay dudes, but because of the acting.

also, the presidents wife is smoking hot. that dude is an idiot wanting to go bang some nobody who wasn't even hot.

yes, i gave it one more shot last night and the beginning drama queen wife throwing the guilt trip on her husband for wanting to stay a month without them was way way way to much like the shit on the teen soap operas that CW plays.

Just watched the pilot. I like it. It's something different compared to all of the other shows. Homeland sucked after season 1 IMO.

i've actually started to like this show more as the season has gone on. i like the direction the story has gone. i look forward to tuesday evenings now to watch it.

It started as a god father rip off but took quiet a few unexpected turn... the coup angle is really unique, this show is turning out to be really good.
The guy playing Jamal's role is doing a really good job, looks real psycho, some might consider it over acting but I like it.

i agree with you 100%. at first i thought the show was meh, but the more i watched and further the story got involved, the more i'm enjoying it and look forward to it every week now. i also like jamal's character, acting included. i think he does a great job. a lot of the other acting in the show is horrible though, especially the kids. and i don't see the relevance of the kids either, their early stories seemed to be there just for filler. like the son being gay, that story went nowhere. maybe now with them leaving and the son not wanting to leave but the daughter wanting to leave, it will all come together.

oh, and jamal's wife is SMOKIN!

OMMFG, what a season finale, I was floored, cant get over it, still keep thinking about it. Cant wait for next season.

While watching the last episode, my brain kept telling me that Jamal knows and tables will be turned, but my heart refused to believe, I wanted Bassam to succeed... very few shows get me this involved and moved... best show of the summer IMO.

yeah i agree, the finale was really well done, other than the stupid aunt/daughter drama. that shit was retarded and was so obviously going to happen when the aunt even brought it up.

but yeah, i did NOT see that shit coming with jamal and basam - thought it was going to end up with the coup and that is how the season was going to end.

i wonder if they had 2 season endings in place, in case the show did not get picked up for another season. i have no clue if it did get picked up, but i'm hoping it did.

the show started out very meh to me but around episode 3 or 4 it started to pull me more into it. definitely the best summer show that i watched this summer.
