I watched the first episode (I think, I caught it after it started)... I thought it started out pretty decent, but as I continued to watch it I started annoyed me because it was going over the top trying to prove the point that Middle Easterns are "ruthless". And that the main character (the son) was the "nice guy against ruthless." Just another cliché TV show like the thousands before it.

I stopped watching it.

Does it get any better or continue along that line?

first eps did feel cliched as shit for sure. but the story takes a big turn in general from the initial assumption about everything and everyone.

definitely not the greatest show on fx or anything, and not even close to the shielf, sons of anarchy, rescue me, or the americans, but it's a good summer show and i'll be tuning in next season for sure.

Duh,
we wouldn't have had a season otherwise!
😉
Sure we could... his son wants revenge for the death of his dad and becomes the leader of the rebellion. Now, we got 'dad' saved, and well, seems like he will lead the rebellion.

The son?!? He should have been killed off in S1 E1!

why are you guys using spoiler tags for an episode that has already aired?

anyways, yeah as soon as they hung him and he still had the bag over his head, it was pretty obvious (to the views only of course) that it wasn't bassam.

the trailers for whats coming up on this season, after the episode, seemed a little LOL worthy though. i think this show is going to take a turn for the worse based on them, but with nothing else on during summer, this show is entertaining enough that i'll continue to watch it.

acting in this show is so painful to watch. the son and his wife ... wow. so awful at acting. actually everyone is terrible at acting.

As for spoiler tag usage, in case nobody saw the episode yet.
I suppose it don't matter that much though.

Yeah, summer time shows... next thing coming up is The Strain.
Another summer time show is called "Proof", and well... Tyrant is better so far.

man the acting on this show gets more and more painful to watch every week. it's getting unbearable lol.

also the fact that everyone talks english with the fake ass accents really bothers me. i'd much rather hear them speak in native tongue with subtitles.

Yeah, I've been watching Tyrant from the beginning and after reading this thread I just had the epiphany that the acting is pretty terrible all around. lol.

Well, at least we have Fargo coming back in September.

One of the few things that keeps me coming back is how brutally hot Moran Atias is.

That and I want the annoying rebel girl to get it.

I will make my decision, I will make the right decision and the world will live with it

Best dialogue of the show yet!

I'm not feeling this season so far, I predict it will be cancelled this year or the following.
Yeah, same here. The switch in the first episode was a little disappointing but I guess they painted themselves into a corner. It was a good way of resolving the brother's internal conflict though - he couldn't kill Basam but he also couldn't let him live.

I can see this going in an interesting direction though. Basam isn't going to join up with the rebels, not after what he saw in the village. But if he doesn't I'm not sure what he IS going to do. I'm hoping to be surprised.

People still watching this?

Heh, nice to know you can use the old cloth over the phone trick to "disguise" your voice.

I thought I was the only person who found that humorous! 🙂

Now that Bassam has been reunited w/ his son, can we please have Sammy killed off, his death would improve the shows acting 100%! 😛

haha i'm still watching this show, and to be honest, i'm liking this season. it's a good show on like a b-level note. the acting is painful, the effects are so bad (the cgi of the palace from the front outside view a few episodes ago, the explosions that happen in the safezone for basam's people), the story of basam and sammy reuniting like they did completely far fetched, and juts so much more. but you know what? i'm enjoying this show quite a bit lol.

i've pretty much lost interest in the last ship though. i'm like 4-5 episodes behind and don't really care. my wife watches it without me now.

This is one of my faves too. Sure, the quality isn't the greatest, but for a basic cable show, it's not bad. It's topical and I think they handle the moral conflict angle reasonably well. You have to overlook some of the cheesy plot twists like the supposed execution, but if you don't get too hung up on the details, it's pretty entertaining.

The kids were a constant source of annoyance last season and I do think they're setting Sammy up for the dirt nap - something I don't think anyone will object too.

I do like how they portray the Caliphate, especially the intolerance. I think it's a great lesson for the religious extremists in our midst.
