NEW DOOM UNVEILED - GOOD GOD

What I'm really looking forward to is a company that makes good games licensing the engine and actually making something I'll want to play.

Something tells me that my lowly Matrox G400 and celeron 450 aren't going to be able to handle this game 🙂

This deserves a bump....

Geeeezus that looks impressive.... I haven't had a shock from visuals like that since I saw my first scene rendered through 3dfx hardware... I was at a LAN party and me and one other guy had our new 3dfx cards running Quake I. By the end of the weekend all 8 other guys had them too! (Compusa practically sold out)

:Q

By the time Doom III is available, the GeForce III won't cost $500, I think $200 or less. I remember one of my friend paid $400 for a GeForce DDR with DVI, what a sucker.

Looks very nice, still no way I would pay 600 for a vid card, I don't even think I have ever spent over 155 for one.

Incredible is the only word to describe it. It's a big step ahead in gaming. Suddenly UT and Q3A look like Wolf3d. So, I wonder if the XBox can pump out stuff like this, being it uses almost the same video part?

Indeed the geforce 3 looks impressive, but i still think that mac sucks! And the pricing of the mac is just as outragous as that of the Geforce 3.

<<Looks to be a fillrate bitch. I'm kind of disappointed in the low number of polys. (yet again!)>>

low poly count????

Obviosly you didn't watch the video with the Demo.

SHESH! It looks like the Character models have more poly's then an entire scene of Q3! 😎

hmmmm macs are looking appealing now that they come with geforce3 and dvd burners. Not to mention really fast rc5 performance.

Yes I most definitely did. These things are like watching a magic show. Of course there's no such thing as magic so to trick you they provide distractions. If you don't get tricked by the distractions, you can often see the method.

If you pay close attention to the edges of the characters, especially at the joints and their heads you can still see points where you would normally have round edges. Don't get me wrong, the graphics look great compared to current games. I just would like to see truly photorealistic graphics in a game. I guess I'm going to have to wait a little while longer. <sigh>

Cheers!

Come on guys, get real.

The game is impressive, however, there is NO reason to upgrade your computer and vidcard for a game - ONLY excuses (I know you want the latest hardware - you really don't need to give any excuse to upgrade around here as we all have the same disease).

If the game is trying for mass acceptance (big sales) - and what game isn't - it will run well with a PIII500 and a Geforce. Of course, it will run best with the latest hardware.
