If it skips, your connection isn't fast enough or the site is getting hammered. Download the whole asf file here.

Wow... very very impressive...

However, my friend took out his Sega Genesis last night and was playing Bloodlines. I don't know how everyone feels, but I actually have more fun playing old games like Super Mario Bros. than I do with these new games...

<<If you pay close attention to the edges of the characters, especially at the joints and their heads you can still see points where you would normally have round edges. >>

Well then... my my... tisk tisk...

I guess until Video games look like Toy Story you'll just have to settle for Old crappy stuff with "only" 250-500 thousand polygons per frame (just guessing).

hehe... I remember the Orginal Doom game, it only had maybe 50-100 poly's per frame.

Doom had zero poly's per frame, it was sprite based.

BTW: Screw the Mac, it's only getting the GF3 a couple of weeks ahead of the PC. Like anyone is going to shell out six bills for a video card.

The walls of the maps in Doom could be considered polygons (drawn via ray casting). Everything else was a sprite.

The game is impressive, however, there is NO reason to upgrade your computer and vidcard for a game - ONLY excuses (I know you want the latest hardware - you really don't need to give any excuse to upgrade around here as we all have the same disease).

Eh? and slow down tech advancement for pc's, i think not. go play console games if thats the way u feel. pc games are like a crack habit, but its worth it.. i think;)

Prolly even less! You could just count the geometric shapes at any given time on your fingers and toes probably ;)

I have a feeling that the GeForce 3 is going to start a whole new era in gaming.

What it mean is that games are either going to work with the GeForce 3 or they wont work at all. I dont think these games are going to be backwards compatible, because if they were the programmers would have to nearly code the game twice. Have you seen the spec list for the GF3? It has programmable rendering on the card itself! They would literally cause developers to have to program the game twice so that older cards could run it, and I dont see developers doing that any time soon.

The GeForce 3 is going to start a whole new archetecture, and our cards probably arent going to be forward compatible.

(not that I care, because I was going to wait and see what Carmack reccommended for Doom 3 anyway :D )

I've been looking for ways to make some extra money, and I've finally figured it out:

Bidding starts at $600 (that should cover the GF3 at least)...any takers? ;)

How much money do you suppose Apple spent to get the GF3 exclusivly on thier machine first? It's not like this will get gamers to change platforms.

Doom looks pretty good.
Steve job's pisses me off. Does he have to shout like that? And yes, we heard you the first time you told us it was being rendered in real time. AMAZING.

He should try his hand at selling used cars, he reminds me of one already, I'm sure he'd be a hit.

wow... I just downloaded that file from gameadmins.com, I can't believe that, that guy just ripped and tore apart exactly what I'm going to be doing in college, that was probably the most informative 8 minutes I've ever witnessed, that Geforce 3 is going to be of use to me someday... holy Beans, Wow... thanks for that link rudds.

Geforce3 won't start it. The Xbox will! Developers have already begun learning to develop for this sick new generation of hardware. I think we'll see games adopt DX8+ technology a LOT quicker than they adopted DX7 technologies, and of course the Xbox will be helping. Also, believe it or not, game engines will be easier to design with these new advanced features. Why? Because for the past 4 years developers and programmers have been hard at work figuring out how to make lighting look like real lighting--if you saw the Doom3 demo you heard him talk about the 'tricks' they had to use previously. Those tricks were ingenious in saving our framerates, but now that the hardware can handle the high polygon count and realtime lighting and shaders, the engines should be easier to develop (DX8 and OpenGL 1.3 will help too of course!)
