Bleh, compressed to hell. I can't listen to it for more than a couple of minutes without getting a headache. I had a feeling it would be, but I didn't think it would be so bad that I can't stand to even listen to it long enough to make an opinion on the music.
I've got a Rhapsody subscription and downloaded it from there and it's just wierd....some songs like "Your Decision" sound okay and pretty clear but then it cuts over to A Looking In View and it's just a compressed blurry mess. Check My Brain is the same way.
The radio versions don't sound this bad, or maybe it's just lost in the FM transmission.
Whatever the case is, my subscription version is compressed to oblivion and the production feels different on each song.
As far as my review, as usual I agree with Mr. Platypus and others. The first track is probably my favorite and really has the most "Alice" feel to it. When he's singing/chanting along with Jerry he's indistinguisable from Layne. Other songs are like a pop-rock spin on grunge with the winner of a Layne Staley cover singer contest. It's not a bad album at all. It's just not quite up to what I had hoped with the teasers we got from a A Looking in View.
