I have the AFI PDF with the new list which indicates how far a movie rose/fell as well if they're new additions...someone has to host it and I don't to use my site, someone want to volunteer?

umm i love movies and own quite a bit, check sig, but is anyone here going to buy half of these movies over new favorites? Whats the real point of this list, and im not starting a flame. Please educate me as this list makes no sense to me. Who is it being catered to?
After about 50 the orders get kind of dubious, with new movies getting a lot heavier preference than classics. I mean Grindhouse at #74? pleaseOriginally posted by: KeithTalent
I actually get a lot more use out of this list: http://www.imdb.com/chart/top

I agree with all your comments on the film and it truly is amazing, but i guess i jsut differ in what # it shoudl fall in. I dont always agree with critics but i guess i wanted to believe their views on films dont change that drastically to have a top20 film become top5.Originally posted by: zinfamous

Raging bull going up +20 into the top 4 is bullsh1t. how can a movie that was top 20 10 years ago be suddenly among the top 5 american films of all time? having THAT much movement within the top is ridiculous, especially by a film that's already been listed. how did it magically get that muc hbetter in 10 years time
Alot of the things you posted I can agree with, however I think you are totally off on this one. The move up is a correction to the low placement of #24 this film was given.
1) This is Martin Scorcese's masterpiece. He is arguably America's greatest filmmaker and this work is his best.
2) This is the greatest performance of Robert DeNiro's career (with Taxi Driver). The best actor of his generation and arguably the greatest of all time. The transformation he makes to his body for this role is nothing short of incredible.
3) Joe Pesci and Cathy Moriarty give perfect perfomances as LaMotta's brother and wife.
4) The dialogue and interaction between Jake and Joey was priceless.
5) The way the film is shot in muted black and white gives the film a beautiful elegance that also conveys the depression and misery of LaMotta.
It didn't get magically better, it was always this good, the critics who vote just pulled their heads out of the arses and got it right this time.
not to mention that the improved ranking is more in line with the rest of the world.

I thought it was a pretty good. a movie of subtlety. the twist is staring you in the face the whole time but you only realize it at the end. i thought the acting was pretty good all around and the the movie really sets a strong eerie tone without resorting to too many cheap scare tacticsOriginally posted by: Adaman
6th sense doesn't deserved to be mentioned in a best 100 movies list...where did this start? The 6th sense was that ghost movie with Bruce Willis, right?
