Never shop at wal-mart

Oy...the time and stress you decided to put yourself through for $10 is beyond me. Your time must be worth very little to you. This rant is terribly weak. Most likely, your brother either paid for a $20 gift card or the card was improperly credited when your brother paid for $30. Either way, this case does not sound like it came even close to being worth the hassle.

i know theres 7 or 8 pages of this...but i just thought id chime in and tell the OP hes a stupid asshole

people like you are one of the reasons shopping at places like wal-mart suck so bad.

There's only 2 pages for me. You need to change your settings.

you're an asshole. there was probably only $20 on the card.

Even if their system said it was $20 they could have at least offered some good customer service and credited me the $10. More than likely one of their employees screwed up.

And his attitude telling me he'll "say anything he wants" was also unacceptable. Especially after I told him not to talk.

Unless you had a gift receipt showing $30 on the card then I wouldn't have given it to you either.

Just so you guys know I called my brother and he is 99% sure he put $30 on it.

That's great, but you cannot expect a minimum-wage cashier to take someone's word over what the computer tells him. Sorry, but his job is worth a lot more than your $10. If the card showed $20 on it, they cannot do anything for you unless you have a receipt for that gift card showing that it cost $30. Your memory and your brother's memory do not constitute proof and your reaction (belittling employees and inconveniencing other customers) was grossly inappropriate.

You need to get the receipt (or your brother's credit card records for that day, showing the $30 expense at Wal-Mart as a questionable backup) in order to have valid proof. They are a business. They have to go based on what their computer records show.

Where's the receipt?

OP, nothing about your case is provable without the documentation your brother should have kept. Your word vs. thier computer audit trail is worthless. The only thing we know for sure is that you're an asshat.

I don't venture into P&N.

You should...a stupid supremacist owned himself. It was beautiful.

Yep

$30 sounds like a strange amount to put on a gift card. You probably misread the amount written on the card, and it was actually $20.

This is why I prefer cash as a gift. It's accepted everywhere and it's easy to find out how much you have left in your wallet. Or, if you love your credit card, you can deposit the cash and get cash back or rewards or whatever.
