It is confirmed. The "Essentials" version of Nero contains a cut-down version of Burning ROM. You do not get all the features & functionality of the full version.

PowerDVD:

I don't think the Nero has the "Nero Burning Rom" app in it that actually does all the good stuff, so I'm not sure that's the one to get.

But the PowerDVD looks straight and is the best DVD playback software IMO.

I've purchased several times from Surpluscomputer and all arrived quickly without issue. I've heard returns there are a bitch tho

if ti is anything like the old Nero 6 bundle I got with my samsung dvd burner it automaticaly puts in a serial for me. I cant see why this would be any different. If I had $6 Id jump on it just to upgrade from 6.

If someone would like I would trade my disc (comes with alot more then just nero 6 on it like movie editing, burning, and more just off the top of my head) and get me this I would trade.

This is Suite 1, in Nero 6 Suite 1 it could not burn SVCDs or DVDs so can any one confirm if this Nero 7 Essentials can burn SVCDs and DVDs? Thanks
Edit: After googling I doubt this will burn DVDs

I like how the image of the product states: Bundle with hardware only. Not for resale.

Isn't this just the oem version that gets bundled with DVD burners? Of course it lets you burn DVD's ;)

Probably a current version of the suite bundled with my Mad Dog drive

I heard something about nero 7 having an option to burn dual layer disks. I have nero6 and I am wondering if this is worth the upgrade. Anybody???

You should be able to burn DL disks with your Nero 6 as long as it's an Ultra or Suite-3 version, and as long as your burner supports DL (DVD-9).

Well, I jumped on it. I also got that cheapo 21 peice toolset for $3.99.

Order placed: 7/20/06
Recieved: 7/28/06

I'll update this when I get it and I'll let everyone know how the nero is.

Nero 7 is such a resource hog compared to 6. I recommend sticking with 6. As someone already mentioned, 6 also support DL.

Nope, actually this only shows what the installer has. I pulled that from the .ini file on the CD. The key doesn't allow you to use the full functionality.

Yes, DVD's are a GO! I got your PM, and I tried it shortly after. But apparently you are not setup to recieve PMs.

This looks like the EXPRESS version of Nero 7.

This looks like the full-on version of Nero 7. I don't know what the Ultra version has that this doesn't. On the Nero website they have a comparison sheet that shows Nero 6.6 Ultra and 7, and I think I have all that jazz:
http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/doc/Nero7_comparison_sheet.pdf

Even the unwanted crap like Nero Scout and Nero Home. That was a horrible idea.

Did you update to the latest version, if so did it update Showtime from 2 to 3? Thanks

Grabbed one. Thanks OP for the post, and thanks Voodoo for all the info.
This sounds like it should beat the pants off Nero 6 Express i'm using now, it sucks.
