So I'll just post a quick thoughts since I don't want to spoil anything.
First off as a nonspoiler it truly is an appropriate successor to the original. I'll leave it at that with a hint to keep an eye out for a couple very famous Sagan lines
Onward, a couple JJ Abrams lens flare moments but they weren't distracting IMHO.
The score was really really well done, soaring at times, subdued as needed.
The graphics and animated sections were incredible. The graphics especially were well done and really imbued a sense of scale and wonderment.
Tyson really knocked it out of the park, he definitely channels Sagan so well. There were two moments that brought me and my girlfriend to tears.
I want to say more but I won't spoil anything here but I loved it. Simply loved it. Filled me with awe, wonder, joy, tears, and happiness.
Also wanted to point out that like the original as well it doesn't shy away from pointing out religious bad behavior going so far at one point of calling the Inquisition "the thought police." (No disagreement from me on that) There are a couple other examples but again I'm trying to not spoil everything.
