The only thing going for Manchin is I think he is probably the best we can expect from West Virginia. We really just need to overhaul the senate to reduce the ridiculous level of extra representation the small states in our country get, but I don't see how that will ever happen. The way our representation is set up is going to guarantee that the populous areas of the country have to continue to watch minority rule until they get so sick of it that it breaks the country apart. Republicans can't stand it when Democrats get control even when they have to win popular votes by large margins just to elections. On top of that, due to the filibuster coupled with senate representation, a tiny portion of our country is able to hold any progress hostage by just blocking everything. It's insane that our government is set up such that in theory less than 6% of the population could elect representatives to basically block any legislation from ever passing.
