Need to find EASY FPS

Last night my g/f saw me playing UT3. She thought it looked kinda fun and wanted to try it herself. She has absolutely no gaming skills at all. She had a hard time even figuring out where she was. I tried switching to CoD4. A little slower paced. No good. She couldn't even finish the training mission at the beginning in less than 2 mins.
SO... I'm trying to find a cake walk easy FPS for her so she can start to build some skills with. Anyone have any suggestions??

I would suggest No One Lives Forever 1 and 2, its a little old, but its quite fun. They should still carry it at GoGamer or Amazon. Good story fun gameplay, not that fast paced.

Maybe start her out on a third person shooter? The small amount of Mercs 2 for PC that I've played was condescendingly easy, and I believe it even had an option to turn on auto-aim.

My little sister tried Cod4 multiplayer and she couldnt move that quickly, but the graphics made a big impression on her and she kept at it. she was 17-11 k/d last time i saw her play after a few 1-2 hour sessions

Crysis + Modified *.cfg file

con_restricted = 0
g_godMode = 1
i_unlimitedammo = 1
i_noweaponlimit = 1

:)

My fiancee isn't any good at FPS games, but she loves being invincible and blowing stuff up in Crysis and Crysis Warhead!

Pretty much any FPS on easy difficulty settings would do it, there's no particularly hard FPS'es out there since many years anyway. Let her try Half-Life on easy, or Half-Life 2, it's very story driven, on-rails, she can't get lost really, you follow the corridors or NPC instructions and you make the story progress, very easy, and so few enemies it's almost ridiculous.

HL2. Not too difficult, good story, and fun. Or maybe Portal, although, it's not exactly an FPS.

I would most certainly NOT suggest half life 2 for a noob.
Way too many complicated puzzles to figure out. Not something a novice would be able to do easily. I think most of us forget that because we've been playing shooters since the Doom days.

The puzzles in Dark Forces may seem easy today but back then they were real challenges. Same with Half-life 1. Its often difficult to figure out what you are supposed to do in a first person game. You can run around the same spot a hundred times and not see the little button or switch. You can easily miss side passages as well.

For a total nooblet I would recommend Serious Sam on Easy mode. You get double health and you also regenerate health quickly. Its almost impossible to get killed unless you just let go of the mouse and keyboard in the middle of huge monster fest.
And they dont do the huge monster fests right away. You slowly build up to those as you go through the levels.

How about starting her out with the original Unreal and maybe Quake 2 ?

And once she gets up to speed, both of you need UT 2004 and to then come to the Clan Death Warrant Invasion Monster Hunt RPG server, which is a tremendous amount of fun. It's non-competitive and cooperative and the two Clan DW Invasion-RPG servers have a very active community and are loaded with custom maps and other goodies. People even get on Ventrilo voice comm. The server remembers your name and identity and you level up a character over time, improving things like weapon speed, weapon damage, damage resistance, and a bunch of other things. The game is played on huge deathmatch-type maps against 16 waves of progressively harder monsters (some from the original Unreal but many of which are custom-made). A boyfriend-girlfriend team shoulc share magic weapons and copy them. You two should come check it out.

just have her play Portal

execution becomes more intricate as the game progresses, but I would think she'd have desire to continue as she gets farther through each level

HALO PC. Though online is almost impossible for n00bers, it's hardcore.

My suggestion: Load up a multiplayer map in single player (with nobody else) and let her learn movement and aiming with no objectives. Once she feels comfortable with that stuff, she can learn the rest.

TF2, there are lots of newby-friendly servers. It was my first FPS (although I game) and i picked it up in a couple hours. It's just practice, really.

Hehe... I've tried UT3 on its hardest setting. And all I can say is NO WAY! I'm quite skilled and am usually in the top 20% of whatever server I play on. But at that level I got my ass handed to me.

AND.... I just remembered something. I still have a copy of Postal 2. Set on Leibermode it is almost impossible to get killed. I'll try her on that so she can learn basic movement skills and then move up to aiming.

Postal/2 was a hilarious game but girls might find it a bit crude.
