Just stick with what you have. She'll get the hang of it sooner or later. If you have Crysis, at least the terrain looks pretty when she's learning.

My suggestion: Load up a multiplayer map in single player (with nobody else) and let her learn movement and aiming with no objectives. Once she feels comfortable with that stuff, she can learn the rest.

Last night my g/f saw me playing UT3. She thought it looked kinda fun and wanted to try it herself. She has absolutely no gaming skills at all. She had a hard time even figuring out where she was. I tried switching to CoD4. A little slower paced. No good. She couldn't even finish the training mission at the beginning in less than 2 mins.
SO... I'm trying to find a cake walk easy FPS for her so she can start to build some skills with. Anyone have any suggestions??

I would most certainly NOT suggest half life 2 for a noob.
Way too many complicated puzzles to figure out. Not something a novice would be able to do easily. I think most of us forget that because we've been playing shooters since the Doom days.
The puzzles in Dark Forces may seem easy today but back then they were real challenges. Same with Half-life 1. Its often difficult to figure out what you are supposed to do in a first person game. You can run around the same spot a hundred times and not see the little button or switch. You can easily miss side passages as well.
For a total nooblet I would recommend Serious Sam on Easy mode. You get double health and you also regenerate health quickly. Its almost impossible to get killed unless you just let go of the mouse and keyboard in the middle of huge monster fest.
And they dont do the huge monster fests right away. You slowly build up to those as you go through the levels.

BioShock! It looks good, controls are good, the atmosphere is creepy, and the story's excellent!

Do you play on the Death Warrant servers?
Anyway, seriously, all UT fans should get UT 2004 and learn the Invasion Monster Mash RPG game mod 'cause it's so much fun once you know what you're doing.

I'd have to 2nd this, Bioshock has some pretty simple AI and vita-chambers are beginner friendly.

IMO, the main problem with Serious Sam (and Painkiller) is that they are mercilessly boring. If that was my introduction to FPSes, I would have probably quit. It's like grinding kills in an MMO.

It depends on what exactly you're looking for. There is a difference between easy games and simple games. Bioshock is easy but not simple while UT3 is vice versa.

Actually, the puzzles in those old games are often quite obscure compared to what modern games have. I played this game for the first time early this year (through Dosbox) and found many of the puzzles hard enough that I had to consult walkthroughs.

If you want maximum variety, I think Unreal 2 still does that best among singleplayer FPSs. (in terms of environments, weapons, enemies and so on)
