Be careful with some of those larger NdFeB magnets... some of them can distort a computer CRT from like 3 feet...

If you got your finger stuck between two of those, it would literally be crushed...

How do you ship those? It seems like it would attach itself to the side of the UPS truck.

That's the largest magnet I can find online. I'd like to see a good 12'x12'x12' super cube. 😉

What is it? I'm at work and the NoFunWall wont let me see it 🙁

6"x2" Neo plate magnet. N38.

:Q

Story: Supposedly a sales rep was visiting a customer, and they handed him some Neo. They told him dont put them together, so without thinking he put one in each pocket.
Took 4 guys to get them apart when they came together on his potatoes.

This thread has me seriously interested in magnets. I'm going to head over to Radio Shack and see what they have in stock.

They don't really have anything.. just crappy, weak ceramic magnets.

I'm amazed at eBay's prices on NdFeB magnets.. quite the deals.

I'd love to have one of those huge 6" ones, although I have no idea what I would do with it.. It would be dangerous just to have around, lol..

Is there any substance that "stops" a magnetic field?

Um, er.. I guess just a ferrous box around the magnet would stop quite a bit of it? Or maybe it needs to be non-ferrous?

No.. It doesen't really work like that. 😉

The attraction to the car would be so strong and sudden, you wouldn't be able to control it. So.. it would, in effect, draw you to the car.

And if you had the tips of your fingers curled around the front edge when it made contact with the car, they could very well be virtually severed.

These things are no joke.

If you had one with a handle, and you could somehow gently attach it to a car.. then yeah, you would be able to pull it with the magnet.

I bet one of those things is strong enough to scramble a HDD from a couple of feet.

no no what i meant was like letting the magnet on a vehicle (a pickup truck maybe) that is heavier than the car, so you can drive off the pickup and your friend's car will move? of course this is assuming the pickup truck will still drive lol

hehe.. Yup.. it probably would....

JEez!! These things are cool as hell!!! 😀😀😀

Look at the video of the magnetic liquid thing.. it's so damn awesome!! 😀😀

/Geeked out 😱

I wonder if any of those magnets are strong enough to make the iron in your blood pile up near the magnet. That'd be crazy if you could kill people with a magnet over the heart.

Ok fellas, I checked with my dad, the prices from wondermagnets and k&j are pretty well in line with market prices as a whole, so doesnt look like you guys would be getting screwed it you purchase through them 🙂

Theres actually some form of medicine that advises putting magnets on certain parts of you rbody. Supposedly stimulates blood flow or some such. See here
But no, you wouldnt be killing anyone with a magnetic field. At least, not which we can produce today.
