Hey dude. I cracked the screen on my iPod, and the liquid seems to be spilling out. This happened approximately last year.

Is it possible to get a new screen, and get it replaced, and how much would it cost? It's the first click wheel generation (I think 4G?)

I'm in the UK.

I just got a 60gb Ipod video and when I plug it into the USB port on my computer it says "Do Not Disconnect." However, it does not mount as a drive in windows explorer, nor in iTunes. I tried rebooting the Ipod, restarting my computer, and nothing works.

Have you tried plugging it into another USB port?

Screens are about $45 USD and I'd probably charge $40 USD to replace it (due to the shipping costs shipping it back to you)...

So, I'd have to pay you 85 USD, plus shipping to you, and you will fix it for me?

Well, like I said, the part would be close to $45, I have to make some money off of it fixing it, and I have to send it back to you (To the UK. I'm in the USA, so it'd be some higher price to ship there).

I'm trying to see if I can find a lower price on it. If I can get it cheaper I'd charge you less. I'd Still charge the same $40 to fix it, but it'd be closer to $70 rather than $85

That would be really sweet, but the only problem is that you wouild have to fix it sometime in September, unless you want me to ship from Belgium, cos I'm leaving for home in a couple of days.

I have a friend who has a new one (his first one ever, and I don't own one) and he was complaining that the software (itunes) keeps asking him for his registration number. Where does one get a registration number?

I think i have a 4th generation 20 GB Ipod and sometimes my scroll wheel does not work. For example, I will hit the button to go up one level in the menus while a song is playing and then the scroll wheel doesn't work. If I lock it, then unlock it the scroll wheel works.

Any thoughts as to why?

Doesn't matter when I get it, just matters what would be easiest to do.

I've never shipped anything to the UK before so you'd probably have to help me when I ship it back to you.

The circuit board on the back of the scroll wheel is known to do things like that when it's failing. I've had one act up in a sort of similar way and the only way I found to fix it was to replace it. I can't tell you why the hold button solves the solution for a short time, but I can tell you that if you replaced it it wouldn't be a problem anymore.

I have a 30GB iPod video... They come with 2 different hard drives that I'm aware of. A toshiba 30GB 4200RPM drive and a Hitachi 30Gb 4200RPM. Mine originally came with a Toshiba but I changed it out with a hitachi I had received in a shipment. I've only encountered one dead toshiba iPod video drive.

My advice is if you get an ipod, any ipod with a hard drive, as long as you don't drop it from a decent distance while it's on, you'll be fine. I personally have never damaged any of the ipods I've considered my own, however I've seen at least 30 to 40 ipods with dead hard drives and can tell you that they do die if you don't take care of them.

I had it on an ipod that came in and I used it for a little while but it wasn't commercially acceptible so I had to reformat it.

I don't like having to mess around with the ipod software or the music/settings on my ipod so I don't normally do things to it that I would have to start all over and put in the settings.

just today, i just finished taking my finals and i turned on my 5G 30GB ipod and was listening to it. all of a sudden, one side of my headphones (some sony street styled ones i got just last month) didnt work anymore. i had to fiddle with the end part of the headphone wire right on top of the headphone jack on the ipod to make the right side of the headphones work. sometimes both sides will play, most of the time the left side will only play.

i recieved this as my birthday present last november of '05. do i have to take it in to the apple store and have them fix it, or am i SOL...? i hope not. also, will i have to pay a fee of any kind? i hope that this is covered in my warranty. i only got a one-year warranty with it, and i dont think my brother/parents (who payed for the ipod) got applecare with it.

When I plug in my 4GB iPod Mini into USB to charge it beeps a few times, starts charging and freezes with the big charging icon. After a few minutes, it then continues charging. Why is my iPod beeping at me?
