My iPod shuffle won't get recognized by my Dell Dimensions desktop, but does with my Dell laptop. When in the desktop, it is the only device on the USB. Why?

Hard drive is shot...

Some people have had luck with slapping the back with an open palm... (it's a last resort kind of technique and may or may not work) More than likely you're hard drive is totally dead.

Have you tried plugging it into all the different usb ports on your computer?

It sounds like there could be something screwed up with the drivers on your Dell Desktop as well....

I've switched from my personal server to one of DeviousTrap's paid servers...

I'm currently working things out. I hope to get on digg.com in the coming weeks with a nifty little tutorial idea I've got in mind, so I'm ramping up for bandwidth/server power.

I should have everything back running soon...

It's weird when you have everything locally on a server and are completely familiar with it... then send it onto another server and watch everything fall apart

I didn't read the whole thread, but here's my problem:

I charge my Ipod Mini (first gen) for 6 hours just to get 30 minutes of music. This is with the latest firmware updates and the a full battery drain test. I've been looking at replacement batteries, but wasn't sure if these 700+mah will work properly for my first gen mini. Can first gen/second gen minis use the same batteries?

My nano gen 1 myseriously went into disk mode one time when I turned it on.

I could not do anything to it including turning it off.

I had to restore it erasing everything on it. That sucks.
