I just have 2 things I want to say here:

These guys (the Seals) are heroes. I salute them with all sincerity.

I hope this action will serve as a deterrent to stop this criminal madness.

That is all.

BHO isn't strong or weak when he orders SEAL's to go take out shitbag pirates, he's merely efficiently using his resources, nothing more.

Um, it is a sign of strength that Obama is willing and able to do this. A weak president would have been afraid to.

Big ups to our military. Just shows great things can be accomplished when our men and women in uniform are used correctly.

A "weak" president would have been afraid to? Afraid to what? Give their elite of the elite permission to invade a shithole country that has no hope in stopping them (and in this case, probably even detecting them), to go take on some POS terrorists who couldn't defeat our mainline troops, much less the elite of our elite...

...all planned and acted up by our military, on their timeline, with backup and air waiting in the wings?

I don't view this as a sign of 'strength', I view it as a normal decision any POTUS would be expected to make. For sure I'd consider a POTUS 'weak' for wimping out and not doing what needs to be done, but that doesn't mean when they do decide to order it done, that it's some strength.

Is it a display of strength when you (US) step on an ant (these POS's)? What about when a 5 year old does it (UK, France, other modern military)? What about when a baby (actual military of shithole nations) does it?

The result is the same, the ant is dead...you wouldn't run around and say you were strong or displayed strength stepping on the ant, would you?

Chuck

Was any of this filmed for that new upcoming movie featuring active duty navy seals? Act of valor I believe?

Yes, if in doubt see black hawk down. Obama didn't shoot anybody but if he gave final approval he accepts some appraise or blame depending on how it goes.

Those who say that it couldnt have gone badly not only are ignorant of the history of American military intervention in Somalia, but they don't like good movies either!

Yes, things can go badly. The chances of them going badly for this elite of elites group? Extremely low. Them needing to go through a whole militarized city to get out? Non-existent.

Obama deserves praise? Sure.

Thanks Obama for saying 'Go' and letting the military do what it does best.

There, I praised Obama. Happy?

Correction... "If" Obama had been elected president in 2000, 9/11 would have never happened. Not under his leadership.

Hey Chucky,

Just a quick question: Do you plan on going through the rest of your life with that incorrectly punctuated sig? Has no one pointed it out to you?

It just looks like hell.

In addition... We'd still have a balance budget. A healthy surplus. Low unemployment. And some eight thousand Americans still alive.
If only Obama had been elected president in 2000. If only....

No one is disagreeing with you. The forum unanimously agrees.

But Obama didn't run in 2000. Thus, it could be argued, it's his fault that our deficit is huge, that our economy is in the toilet and that so many Americans are dead. If a firefighter sits and watches your house burn for 30 minutes before putting out the fire, leaving you with only burned rubble, do you thank him?

I really am impressed with Obama's use of the military.

I think it is showing that surgical use of advanced forces is a more effective means for many operations as opposed to the old-school occupation mentality.

We'll see if this kind of thing continues, or if we still have ham-fists for most of our military operations.

Somehow, GWB was responsible for this, just like OBL.

You can at least credit GWB for properly funding the military during his time in office. A lot of people mentioned Carter's failed mission. The military was a mess, every service wanted a part of the action, no flight training for that type of operation, etc... and it ended in failure.

No he didn't.

AAMOF, the $$s were not even allotted/tallied in any of his budgets.

It is easy to "fund" something on debt when you do not disclose it to anyone.

I am not commenting on that. It failed and Carter got crap for it. The point being, the president can make what seems like an "easy" decision (as called out by one poster here), but that decision still has direct consequences on his ability to govern if it fails.
