Other news sources have been saying the suspect described as black male from victims since before noon eastern. The police were reporting this suspect since noon. They didn't just find out.

Notice my post at 12:30...the color of the suspect was known at that time as police were describing the shooter. I picked up on it then as well. It's not paranoia when one already knows their agenda and message. This will be quickly swept under the rug.

Look for the spin to be about an AR15 when he got that weapon from one of the responders meaning it's likely a real M16 or military variant.

You really aren't too bright are you? Go back and read what was in the post you quoted to whine they didn't mention skin color. I'll give you a hint. It's a reference to skin color

Could we possibly be adding this incident to the list of government trained people causing indiscriminate harm? I'll dust off the list here in a minute if it turns out that way.

And here we go:

Aaron Alexas - US Navy (ret.)

Timothy McVeigh - U.S. Army Combat Engineer School

John Allen Muhammad - Expert Rifleman's Badge - US Army

Eric Robert Rudolph - Specialist, Explosives Expert - US Army

Nidal Malik Hasan - Major, US Army

Charles Joseph Whitman - US Marine

Lee Harvey Oswald - US Marine

Wade Michael Page - US Army

Christopher Jordan Dorner - US Navy

I can't wrap my mind around what this guy brought himself to go through with. He walked into the facility in the morning, using someone else's ID, and he knew he wasn't going home that day. He then proceeded to kill helpless people eating breakfast. He gave his life for a reason, and it must have been one hell of a reason at that. I can't imagine anything driving me to do such a thing, ever. Who can relate to this kind of action this man took?

The right are already calling it a gun free zone even though it's a military base and only personal firearms are prohibited and I'm sure every person there was completely unarmed

If I can't have my firearm for protection on my person, then that is a gun free zone. Period. There is nothing confusing or ambiguous about it.

Um...personal firearms being prohibited does make it a gun-free zone if you aren't issued one to walk around with.

You haven't been on many military bases have you?

I can just see the look of glee that these innocent deaths gave Bloombeem for the first part of the day. I wish I was there when he was told that all the talking points they had ready to go for tonight's trash "news" programs had to be discarded. His anti-2nd Super-PAC was gearing up the cash machines to count the donations that were going to come in. Too bad.

Alexis enlisted in the Navy in 2007 and was an aviation electrician's mate 3rd Class in 2009. He served with the Fleet Logistics Support Squadron in Fort Worth from February 2008 to January 2011.

A short LinkedIn profile of Alexis said he attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and worked as a network technician at SinglePoint Technologies.
Seemed like an intelligent fellow.
Alexis appears to have seized firearms from his victims as he moved through the building along the Anacostia River in southeast Washington, where 3,000 Navy employees go to work each day, many of them carrying authorized firearms.

Next to Alexis' body was an ID of a man who used to work at the Navy Yard. Investigators believe that Alexis used that ID to enter the area, which is accessible only through guarded gates.
He shot a security officer in the head, killing him, and took his 9 mm pistol and a magazine of ammunition. The shooter then continued through the building and seemed to target his victims, who were mostly on the third and fourth floors, Bensen reported.

D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department and several other law enforcement agencies responded with active shooter teams.

During that response, a MPD officer was shot in the leg. The gunman was then shot by a FBI hostage response team, law enforcement sources told Bensen.

According to what witnesses are telling investigators, by the time the shootings ended, the gunman was seen with a semiautomatic 9 mm pistol and an AR-15 assault rifle. Authorities are investigating whether the gunman took the D.C. police officers' rifle.

Yahoo front page reporting general discharge due to a pattern of misconduct.

Something tells me at some point, someone will say "we should have seen this guy coming."

Even worse, he used a shotgun and not an AR15, the civilian version of the M16 that first 3 round bursts and hundreds of bullets per minute.

The whole left's narrative is going to fall flat on it's face with this one. Expect it to quickly be swept under the rug.

The media has known for many hours the suspect was a black male, and yet the refused to say anything about color as usual. But if it was a white guy, it would be mentioned every other sentence.

That's typical of the MSM, they have double standards.

Pierce Morgan is going to have a field day with this.

A former member of the military takes a weapon off a cop and nobody can stop him?

Is he going to suggest no guns for cops? Or no military training?

He has to re-write his whole show now.

No, he will just spout the usual BS he always does which is to ban the AR "Military style assault rifle" and call for more gun control.

Except when you're trying to make it sound as if the entire base in unarmed.

For civillians, yes Are you trying to say that there are no armed personnel on a military base?

Probably. In his country cops don't have guns. If something happens that requires an armed response, guns are so rare that they have to call a special "firearms unit" to respond with guns. He will then mention how there are like 3 deaths by gun in his country per decade etc etc.

Uh, Foxnews as of now still hasn't identified the man's race in spite of most other media outlets having done so, and they too are saying AR15.

Not sure what the confusion over gun free zones are. I understand them to mean that carry is not allowed by ANYONE except for law enforcement. Period.

Only law enforcement (or MP on a base) would be allowed to carry on them or in their vehicles. So, just like schools, military bases would be considered "gun free zones", correct?

Now, of course, weapons are allowed during range time on a military base but would be supervised and weapons would be checked in/out with the armory/Master at Arms. So gun free zone would still apply.

Whether or not the media is clueless regarding identifying firearms, his point was that the so-called liberal media is pitching this as an AR-15. I presume he thinks they're doing this to support an assault weapons ban. However, I pointed out Foxnews is also identifying it as an AR15. If that turns out to be incorrect, I doubt political bias will have had anything to do with it.

Here's the weapons policy for the base. I'm not sure why there needs to be any back and forth on what's allowed and not allowed.

http://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=54055

NORFOLK (NNS) -- The Navy announced a policy change regarding personal firearms to consolidate and clarify the requirements for those who own these weapons.

The NAVADMIN detailing the new policy is available at http://www.persnet.navy.mil/NR/rdonlyres/BCB24012-BC52-4E88-B20F-A509B1C744B7/0/NAV10196.txt. The change to OPNAVINST 5530.14E came after a review of existing policy indicated that there were inconsistencies in the way personal firearm regulations were enacted across the fleet, according to Rear Adm. Arthur J. Johnson, Commander, Naval Safety Center.

However, he emphasized that the policy change should not make life more difficult for those who choose to own weapons.

"This policy is more of a clarification than a change," said Johnson. "It's not meant to make owning a personal firearm more restrictive for Sailors. Instead, it aligns policy across the enterprise so Sailors know what's expected of them if they do own a firearm."

One highlight of the new policy is the ability for all Sailors to store their personal firearms in base housing or armories (when space is available), so long as they receive prior written approval from the installation commanding officer. Weapons must be stored in a locked container, a locked gun rack, or secured with approved trigger locks to keep the weapon from firing.

Weapons are still prohibited in other on-base locations, such as bachelor enlisted or bachelor officer quarters, work centers, and vehicles.

The policy also clarifies that Sailors must comply with all federal, state, and local laws, and that concealed weapons are never allowed on Navy installations, regardless of local law.

While the policy change co-locates and clarifies firearms policy, Johnson said there's one thing that hasn't changed.

"The decision to own a personal firearm carries with it personal responsibility," said Johnson. "If you do own a weapon, you must understand the basic rules of gun safety and make sure you follow those rules at all times."

The primary rules of gun safety are: Treat every weapon as if it were loaded; never point a weapon at anything you don't intend to shoot; and, keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire.

Johnson adds two other rules that are important to remember.

"Keep weapons out of untrained or underage hands, and remember that guns and alcohol don't mix," he said.

That he got off of somebody responding to the shooting! If so, it's unlikely it's actually an AR15.

That fact is also being "not reported".

It will be interesting to see who says that "more background checks" would have prevented this.

Pretty sure you need an even more stringent background check to work as a military contractor. If it is true he bought his guns in VA a few weeks ago at a gun shop, they would have ran the standard FFL background check there as well (and obviously passed).
