Had only shotgun. Picked up handgun and pistol off victims. Next up, the left will say "see, even the good guys shouldn't own assault rifles or else they'll be used against innocent lives"

http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/l...r-at-Navy-Yard-One-Person-Shot-223897891.html

Alexis appears to have seized firearms from two of his victims as he moved through the building along the Anacostia River in southeast Washington, where 3,000 Navy employees go to work each day, many of them carrying authorized firearms.

That this happens just as bloomberg and obama are trying to influence VA governor seems highly too coincidental.

Yahoo front page reporting general discharge due to a pattern of misconduct.

Something tells me at some point, someone will say "we should have seen this guy coming."

With all the fucking spying on us that the NSA and other gov't agencies are doing, you'd think they would snag one of these shooters sooner than later... Unless they want these events to push an agenda.

Except when you're trying to make it sound as if the entire base in unarmed.

For civillians, yes Are you trying to say that there are no armed personnel on a military base?

Been on any military bases much? Back int he 80's there were more armed in uniform but even then you could get away with murder before any response. Military bases are patrolled by what essentially is military police. If I were betting, I'd say based on my experience of 30 years of being on and off various military installations that the per capita density of law enforcement is far less on base than off base.

People have this vision of soldiers on bases armed with M4's and such all the time and the reality is they are not.

Many first responders furnish their own rifles provided the rifle meets the configuration requirements, and the LEO qualifies on a regular basis (*A lot of these agencies don't have the budget to outfit all officers except tactical teams so they offer this as an option). So it is entirely logical that it was an AR-15 taken from a first responder.

That officer got ambushed...no way a shotgun should be able to take down a rifle at normal distances.

What's a normal distance? A shotgun loaded with buckshot is quite lethal from a very long distance and accurate. It has to be to kill deer...

It will be interesting to see who says that "more background checks" would have prevented this.

Pretty sure you need an even more stringent background check to work as a military contractor. If it is true he bought his guns in VA a few weeks ago at a gun shop, they would have ran the standard FFL background check there as well (and obviously passed).

He had a Secret clearance, he'd been vetted more than a typical person already.

Supposedly he recently got the secret clearance which really brings into question the process and how it failed to find his previous arrests - which count against him regardless of convictions.

I didn't know it was recent. That's a little scary on how bad that background check was then.

Not possible. The media is reporting selective fire assault weapon.

I mean they are reporting it! It must be true!

I love how most of the anti-gun comments I'm reading (on various news sites) are denigrating the idea of armed guards, and using this shooting as an excuse to call them "useless". They don't even think 1 step ahead to "if those guards hadn't been there, would more have been killed?" We'll never know, but I'm pretty sure some guards are better than no guards.

Called it earlier in this thread. Know your enemy and how it thinks.

Strike hard and first at their lies. isolate them. Ridicule them and attack attack attack them.

This incident destRoy's their message. Pound and ridicule them.

Just saw piers morgan who used the killings to call for a ban on the AR15 but he was schooled by his guests. This is the mentality of many gun control supporters.

I know Spidey... I know. I'm equally amused and depressed by the media and the various politicians and celebs calling for gun control before any facts are double verified by law enforcement.

it's sick how quick this shit gets turned into a gun control debate.

You'll note that the debate is started before the facts are truly known or the blood dry by the gun control activist politicians, celebs and media.

Aw.. these senseless mass shootings.
I figured out how to deal with them since the NR States of A merica would never do anything about it.
So, how about a generic news templet. Each broadcast network can make their own with the anchor of their choosing.
Take for example NBC and Matt Lauer:

"Today, a gunman went on the rampage killing (insert number here), using an assault weapon (insert type here). Killing (insert number here) (A:children B:adults C:combination of A and B). The police (A:captured B:killed C:are looking for) the shooter.
The (A: mayor B:governor C: president) gave a statement saying this was (A:terrible tragedy B:unexplained tragedy C:call to look at gun control laws again).

You get the idea.
Matt could record this generic news report, to be saved and played each time for every mass shooting, with a computer generated voice filling in the blanks.
Anyone can easily imagine how this would sound on air.
Kind of like it does now, lacking the computer generated voice.

a Secret Clearance isn't all that strict of a background check, now a TS is a whole different level... just some FYI there.

That actually isn't such a bad idea. I'd much prefer that to the media circus that we currently have to sit through every time some attention-seeker shoots up a public place.

TS still isn't all that crazy.

Pretty much. Worked along side a lot of TS holders that I wouldn't trust with a Nerf gun. It's not until you get to TS + Polygraph that they start to filter out the oddballs.

Notice they left out he was black or dark skin.

Nope. Not terrorism.

Notice you pointed it right out?

Nope. Not racist.

If obama had a son...

Keep it classy... I don't think the ban stick hits your head hard enough or you have a steel plate under that sheet. After reading your posts in this thread I'm convince one day we will see your IRL face plastered all over the TV and you'll get your own Wiki page, too. Issues... you got 'em.

I'm just happy they killed the POS and we don't have to hear about his rights and a trial.
