Thats a really small number. Many more died in Vietnam, and storming up those beaches in Normandy, and lets not forget those hellhole Pacific Islands. And more die on the roads annually too.

Why doesn't the US send all possible troops to Iraq and totally conquer every inch of the place? And then sort everything out, if they really are interested in sorting things out, that is.

Becasue this is not convential warfare or a liberation it is a occupation.
we already "conquered" Iraq now the messy part of being caught in someone elses country and homes with a resisting force is on the table.
The only way to stop the iraqi resistance fighters is genocide.
Or to leave them to their own self-determination.
But it is obvious this cannot be done and get the oil too.
SO now we watch the iraqis bleed our armed forces and the oil wells get sabotaged.
We have been here before as have all imperialist nations, very surprising US fell into the same trap and did not learn the lessons europe learned so long ago.

The problem with that is all of his arguments have pretty much been debunked yet he continues on some strange train of thought. There are big holes in his knowledge base as well. Comparing the deaths in the battle of Gettysburg to Iraq makes completely no sense. As does bringing up the lack of rights for women after the First Gulf War. As I told him the country's economy was devastated. 70% unemployment rates, shelled out infrastructure etc. When things are bad the weakest are the first to feel it, in this case it was the women.

Very few of my arguments have been debunked. Why does comparing deaths make no sense? We have had 1500 deaths and people are viewing it as if this is a huge number for a war that has lasted two years. By comparing it to other wars it shows that it pales in comparison thats all.

Because they are different era's, different circumstances and a completely different set of objectives. At least compare this too Vietnam and even then it would be stretching. The Vietnamese were quite well-armed.

Guess what, there are laws now. Of course there was resentment, but the immigrants did nothing to deserve it. These people are coming over illegally while others struggle through USCIS paperwork. What gives them the right to break the law and be accepted (actually more than accepted, we have to conform to them), while others have to work their asses off and spend tons of money to become a citizen?

Oh you must mean my grandparents who came from Italy and didn't help build many of the bridges that now service NYC. Or the ones who came here and made it law in our family that we all learn English because we are in America and if we want to fit and succeed we need to learn english. Or the ones who didn't make it a point to become citizens as soon as they could because they wanted to make a future in this country and contribute.
