Except that Nas actually stands for what rap was meant to be, the voice of the streets. I loathe all forms of rap but I at least know that Nas talks about real issues instead of smoking, buying expensive cars, and all that other crap.

define "pop culture". Anybody who has sold records is popular with some group or another, and thus by your skewed definition, is a part of pop culture. However, much of it fails to meet the accepted definition of pop culture. Sinatra has sold millions of records, and there are millions of old people that still listen to him, so by your definition that is a part of culture. Of course, anyone with half a brain knows that that isn't true. Where did your half go?
