Dowries Are Fuelling a Femicide Epidemic In India

"Every year in India, many thousands are killed in marriage-payment disputes. Why does this war on women persist?"

"In 2022, India ranked a hundred and thirty-fifth out of a hundred and forty-six countries in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report, behind Bangladesh (seventy-first) and Sri Lanka (a hundred and tenth) as well as Islamic monarchies such as Brunei (a hundred and fourth) and Saudi Arabia (a hundred and twenty-seventh). Such indicators can prompt questions like the one posed by the Guardian a decade ago: “Why is India so bad for women?”"

^^^ So, OP, why is India so bad for women?
Hell, he didn’t respond to it many posts ago, which was a lie about him promising to respond to every post. Why would now be any different?

Still playing the victim. And projecting.

"Waaahhhhh! Someone said something bad about my hero! Wahhhhh!" Holy shit, the irony in your posts and lack of self-awareness is thicker than molasses...

PS: You ignored the rest of my post where I replied to your so called 'points' Cute.

As for the rest, I said pile it on here right in the first post in my thread. You are the one kicking and screaming here.

As much as I loathe the BJP, I'm with the OP on this in that it has nothing to do with Modi or the BJP, but is a problem that has existed way before them.
Point taken, but I think you are missing the forest for the trees. The particular (the trees) is the abominable Indian predilection for "honor killing" something shared with other culturally backward cultures such as Afghanistan. The "forest" is the BJP and our OP's self-blinding-man love for their leader. Modi is catering to the murderous hatred beating in the hearts of extreme Hindu nationalists, for political gain. It is abhorrent.

Way to generalize over a billion people as 'culturally backward'. I guess in your la la land, its not racist when you say it.

Your last line is a fantasy that exists only in your mind. Can you back it up outside of fluff pieces generated by your ecosystem? That Modi's statements is leading to violence by Hindu extremists?

Google is your friend, sport. Well, in this case, not your friend:

Mr Modi's Perilous Embrace of Hindu Nationalists

Since he was elected in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India has played a cagey game, appeasing his party’s hard-line Hindu base while promoting secular goals of development and economic growth. Despite worrying signs that he was willing to humor Hindu extremists, Mr. Modi refrained from overtly approving violence against the nation’s Muslim minority.

On Sunday, Mr. Modi revealed his hand. Emboldened by a landslide victory in recent elections in India’s largest state, Uttar Pradesh, his party named a firebrand Hindu cleric, Yogi Adityanath, as the state’s leader. The move is a shocking rebuke to religious minorities, and a sign that cold political calculations ahead of national elections in 2019 have led Mr. Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party to believe that nothing stands in the way of realizing its long-held dream of transforming a secular republic into a Hindu state.

How Hindu supremacists are tearing India apart

For seven decades, India has been held together by its constitution, which promises equality to all. But Narendra Modi’s BJP is remaking the nation into one where some people count as more Indian than others
by Samanth Subramanian

India’s Prime Minister Modi pursues politics of Hindu nationalism – what does that mean?

However, Modi and the political party he represents are adherents of Hindutva. What exactly is Hindutva and how is it different from the beliefs and practices of Hinduism?

Colonial roots

Hindutva is an ideology that states that India is the homeland of the Hindus. According to believers, those who profess other faiths can live in the country only at the sufferance of Hindus.

As a scholar of contemporary Indian politics, I find this proposition to be profoundly disturbing and deeply antithetical to the the central tenets of Hinduism.

Is India Headed for an Anti-Muslim Genocide?

Baniya is merely the latest face of India’s state-driven Hindu radicalization. In a country where 84% of the population is Hindu, and just 14% Muslim, Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved the astonishing feat of creating a deep sense of Hindu victimhood, stoking the othering of Muslims via disinformation, hate speech, opening old religious wounds, manipulating a servile media, silencing progressive voices, and empowering Hindu supremacist vigilante groups. “Hindu khatre mein hain” (Hindus are in danger) is a right-wing refrain that resonates deeply today.

^^^ I could go on and on . . . and on . . . just listing from a simple Google search. Of course, I guess you think we're all anti-Hindu assholes.

Well, in the words of the great Raylan Givens from the show "Justified":

Of course I didn't reply to the rest of your post, because there was nothing honest or factual to reply TO.

Everything that reports verifiable fact about Modi and hurts your little feelers, is a "fluff piece" according to you.

You are in denial that you refuse to let go of for the sake of your mancrush. It's pathetic defending someone as shitty as Modi is. Good job, dipshit.

I'm not quite sure it's unfair, much less racist, to generalize a country that still struggles to get people to use toilets and stop shitting in the streets as culturally backward.

Meanwhile, nationalism always leads to violence. You've advocated for violence and even war multiple times in this thread.

First things first, I have answered all the main points here one by one. Unlike you who makes hit and run attacks, I have replied to rebute them with VERIFIABLE and SPECIFIC data.

See here:
1. Demonetization is a failure based on what? Our agencies now have troves of data collected from the time of demonetization and the cases are being filed against offenders on an ongoing basis.

https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/opinion/demonetisation-a-success/article35326808.ece

The funny thing is that these cases are being lodged against big business, the very big business Modi is accused of being in favor of.

2. 86% of farmers supported the repealed farm laws -

https://zeenews.india.com/india/86-...ds-supreme-court-appointed-panel-2447065.html

As for India's agricultural production -

https://thedailyguardian.com/how-modi-government-is-empowering-farm-economy/

Pure denial of reality by P&N when it comes to that farce called Press Freedom Rankings

To the women's dowry related deaths, yes India needs to do better on this front. Dowry related deaths happen whole of the south asia including Pakistan, Bangladesh. But don't think it is the result of BJP's oppression or anything. More women vote for BJP than men. The party has a fair representation of women leaders and workers.

https://www.fairobserver.com/politics/why-do-women-support-indian-prime-minister-narendra-modi/

Unlike you who pulls assumptions out of your ass, I specifically talked about issues and more important provided specific data for my rebuttal.
Of course I didn't reply to the rest of your post, because there was nothing honest or factual to reply TO.
You cried saying my post not having anything to do with Modi. I pointed out that at that point in time in this thread, nothing came up about addressing Modi except demeaning India. The same demeaning that has continued with Perknose calling more than a billion Indians 'culturally backward' over the crimes of a few.

You also cried about my thread existing in P&N, I told you right there and then that my thread has a right to exist as much as any other thread in P&N. You remember all these things, these words and rebuttals of mine are documented here in this thread. You are disregarding them all just to claim there was nothing 'truthful' to respond to. If this is the level of open dishonesty you are displaying here, then you are really not any kind of person to be talking about truth.

You are in denial that you refuse to let go of for the sake of your mancrush. It's pathetic defending someone as shitty as Modi is. Good job, dipshit.
It's not the question of hurting my little feelers, considering how India is being demeaned just to get back at Modi here, that bridge has been long crossed. The data Perknose has posted was nothing more than a general rehashing of the tropes the left is aiming is to present on issue with NOTHING specific on Modi itself (this is by your own standards, remember you crying I didn't say anything about Modi) NOTHING specific to the violence caused by Hindu whatever (Insert your flavor of the day word here) No, it was just an one sided grand summary of the threat posed by the Hindu boogeyman.

You are in denial that you refuse to let go of for the sake of your mancrush. It's pathetic defending someone as shitty as Modi is. Good job, dipshit.

Once again, all your googling couldn't turn up anything specific on Modi, nothing specific on violence by him 'catering' to 'extreme Hindu Nationalists' (in Perknose's words) It was just an accusation based on feels and superficial googlng. Great job, moron.

It's pretty bad when you have to jump to defend Perknose when he can't offer any kind of rebuttal to the post I made to him.

Check the level of hypocrisy folks. You are demeaning Indians in the first paragraph while preaching in the next. This is just racism continued with deaf ears and foot in the mouth disease.

And the BJP is doing its best to solve the issues facing Indians. Here is something specific pertaining to the issue -

About 10.9 crore individual household latrines (IHHLs) have been constructed in the country under SBM (G).
https://pib.gov.in/PressReleaseIframePage.aspx?PRID=1797158#:~:text=About 10.9 crore individual household,country under SBM (G).

10,9 crores means 109 million toilets.

But as for you, Vic. Keep up with demeaning Indians and do keep up with your preaching as well. This would only illustrate what I have been saying : you are a hypocritical piece of crap.

Oh and Perknose still hasn't put up anything backing up his statement except fluff.

What? You are attempting to lie now. I will post your original statement here:

I'm not quite sure it's unfair, much less racist, to generalize a country that still struggles to get people to use toilets and stop shitting in the streets as culturally backward.

Meanwhile, nationalism always leads to violence. You've advocated for violence and even war multiple times in this thread.
You are not just claiming, but justifying the racism by saying its fair to generalize a country over toilets and 'street shitting' I never entered the picture you are presenting here in your first paragraph. If you can lie so openly about your own statement when the facts are plain here, then you are essentially an untrustworthy fellow.

And to top this, you preach about violence and nationalism. Can't you see your own deceit, I bet you are incapable of that.

I never said you shouldn't have made a thread. But you did make it a bit pointless with your own posts and replies. You're using questionably biased news sources to aid your defense, and refuting reality with your feelings. Then accusing others of doing just that.

Sounds almost like MAGAtards here, it's sad to see and most people just want you to put down the megaphone of cultish bootlicking. Try some objective thinking from an outside view for once without the dipshittery.

The world's media outlets (the legitimate ones) aren't "out to get Modi" anymore than they're "out to get" Putin, or Kim Jong Un. They report factual investigating, and it's pure denial to refute those facts only with emotional accusations, like the ones listed in the start of this post. You look like a clown.

So your idea of a perfect thread is I don't get to make posts, but your side has all the rights to do what you want here. The hypocrisy is supreme here.

2. You're using questionably biased news sources to aid your defense, and refuting reality with your feelings. Then accusing others of doing just that -

So again, you are allowed to post from any tom, dick and harry while all my information comes from 'questionable' sources. Even my source from the Indian government website is biased for you. Nice double standard.

So Modi is compared to Putin and Kim Jung Un eh? Your inane comparison shows your bias and utter lack of any rational at the stupidity of the comparison you made.
