isnt' 90% white fish sold actually tilapia?

I'd be uber happy knowing it's actually cod OR haddock

If you cannot tell tilapia from cod, haddock and halibut, you deserve tilapia.
Tilapia has its place, but faking to be other fish is not it.

A classic mix souvlaki pita from this one place in Cyprus. I always get it the first night I'm there on a visit. Charcoal grilled pork, with a couple pieces of fat, plus these plump pork sausages called sheftalia, along with fresh tomatoes, cucumber, onions, parsley and lemon. And it's huge. But you can't stop eating it.

Look up Jacques Pepin on YouTube. He'll show you how to make crepes in 2 minutes. Great skill to have in your pocket for a quick meal or dessert.
Nah, they aren't good for my girlish figure 😛
I might make an exception if the recreation in Leavenworth, WA is open this winter.

I'm counting down the hour until my favorite sushi restaurant open so I can get my raw fish fix. Due to covid, they're only open from 5 pm to 8 pm, Tuesday to Saturday. I've been craving fish since 8:30 pm last night. It's torture.

Halibut or bust
Actually, I was just guessing. We ate haddock and cod at home AFAIR. I prefer haddock and cannot remember the last time I had Halibut, but now I'll be looking for it. Not sure where I'll find it, not carried normally at the grocery store. We don't have a fish store in the city (~60 minutes from the coast by highway). @WelshBloke 's post is making my mouth water. The best fish in chips place nearby closed due to Covid 😕

When I was really young...it was like the mid 70s...all of our neighbors got together and made something called a "Safari supper." You would go to each person's house like Trick or Treaters, and every house made a unique entree. It was like a multi-house buffet. Don't remember any of the food served but I'm sure it was 70's sheik (lots of Jello and casseroles most likely).

Costco sells fresh and frozen halibut. It's about $16 /lb or so I believe.

It's both of those, along with pollak, hake, and an actual species called whitefish. Cod loins are in big demand, so the fish stick people typically use the cheaper/less desirable cuts of the fish for that stuff.

Dude I am nowhere near the ocean. Like 500km away. Halibut is always frozen anyway. I would not try to do fish and chip at home, too much effort and stinks up the place. I just do takeout.

I did pan fry a turbot last week.

Cod was in such big demand here that our stocks were depleted and the fishery shut down.

Many dishes both grandmothers made. Some I know how to do, but still aren't the same. Chocolate chip cookies and pizza made by my best friend growing up. A former girlfriend's venison backstrap, venison ribs, mashed taters, and gravy.

I had a Wendy’s burger yesterday it was dry, small and sad looking. I miss the old Wendy’s where food was cooked fresh and just better all around.

I miss this strange open face grilled cheese sandwich from high school, one thin tomato slice, one thick piece of cheese, one slice of bread. I think it was baked, bread was very buttery tasting but I’m sure it was some sort of spray on oil.
Sort of bland but I remember the taste well heavy on the butter flavor and slightly smoky.

Moms pot roast, it was really comforting on a cold day

Wendy's is by far my favorite fast-food place, but their restaurants are hit and miss. I have one near my work that makes everything fresh and absolutely top-notch every time. The one closest to my house seems to make all the burgers and fries at the beginning of the day and reheats them as needed :rage:
