The rear fenders and the front end are... terrible. I won't comment on the interior since there is zero chance that'll make production. I'd rather drive a GTO, and that is saying something considering that cars looks. The GTO is too bland, the Camaro is... hideous. Nice work GM.

Good thing Chrystler is around, the Challenger looks amazing.

ok so heres some more information i am slowly rounding up. i reallly love the car fyi, but...

will be produced along side the Solstice and Sky at the Wilmington, Delaware plant.

although 2 cars are quite possibly already rumored to be produced their starting in 07, with one being a Vert model.

The platform that underpinned the Camaro at the show was atleast 95% of the actual Zeta platform, complete by IRS at the rear of the concept car, although the front and its MacPherson struts were not readily visible.

It will be produced, no if ands or buts.

Lutz has stated that it should start at around 19 grand for the V6 model and then move up in terms of pricing.

the changes will be very minor on the outside, interior will have more of the changes than the exterior.

the Camaro quite possibly will be introduced in mid to late 2007 as a 2008 model year, even though everyone is currently stating 2009.

Yeah.. GM is way too conservative. You have to hand to Ford and Chrysler having the balls to put what is pretty close to their concepts into production.

One big advantage that Chrysler is going to have is that the Challenger is slated for production in '07 and the Camaro isn't supposed to be out until '09. GM was late to the game as usual. If GM wanted it bad enough, they could put it into production sooner. Look at how fast Ford put the Ford GT into production after the concept was unveiled.

This all reminds me of 1965. Ford had a huge hit with the Mustang and then every one else wanted a piece of the pie. Same thing is happening now. They can't make the new Ford Mustang fast enough. They had to cut off the orders at one point and tell their customers that they couldn't make any more 2005 models.

Apparently, GM was wrong in thinking that this segment of the market was dead when they discontinued the F Body (Firebird and Camaro) in 2002. It wasn't that the market was dead for this type of car. It was that they needed to build a better car.

Which leads me to the problem with GM. They can complain all they want about this or that, but it all boils down to the product. I blame poor management decisions for GM's problems and nothing else.

Describe to me in detail what is technically wrong with, say, a 2000 Camaro SS with SLP package. I've got a co-worker with a big head. He just happens to own one

That concept looks awesome. However, I can't help but laugh that as good as it looks - it still screams "I'm a redneck!"

Challenger in 2007 FTW. GM will totally screw it up and plasticize it in the production version.

For the record, that interior is hideous by concept car standards. Don't worry, by the time it hits production the interior will look like the same black or grey plastic turd that's in every gm car.

IRS, booo

So, you like cars that only go fast in a straight line?

The ignorance is strong with me.

Fixed.

IRS offers better handling than a live axle setup. This is a fact.

Not only is it a fact, but it's common knowledge. Why would you want a solid axle in a car?

Well I would never buy a Camaro/Mustang if I wanted to have fun in twisties. They're way too big for that, IMO. Since I'd only have one for straight-line purposes, I'd want a solid axle, which is much better at putting down power.

That is the kind of thinking that used to prevent American companies from making world class sports cars. There are plenty of high horsepower cars with IRS.. like the Viper. It does fine tuned to 800hp with its IRS. I'm pretty sure a Camaro is going to be fine.

A corvette Z06 doenst use a solid axle.. and it seems to punish anything near its price range that gets in its way. Slolam (or "twisties as some put it) or straight line.
