IRS, booo

So, you like cars that only go fast in a straight line?

The ignorance is strong with me.

Fixed.

IRS offers better handling than a live axle setup. This is a fact.

Not only is it a fact, but it's common knowledge. Why would you want a solid axle in a car?

Well I would never buy a Camaro/Mustang if I wanted to have fun in twisties. They're way too big for that, IMO. Since I'd only have one for straight-line purposes, I'd want a solid axle, which is much better at putting down power.

That is the kind of thinking that used to prevent American companies from making world class sports cars. There are plenty of high horsepower cars with IRS.. like the Viper. It does fine tuned to 800hp with its IRS. I'm pretty sure a Camaro is going to be fine.

LOL you guys do know that the CURRENT 2005 stang dominated the SCCA and other road race events this year right?
that includes corvettes and other jap/euro trash cars with IRS setups...

Saleen performance as well as Steeda and even Ford Motosport offers parts aftermarket to make stangs handle well into the world class lines...

They keep thier costs down on the car by not includign these things stock but most is available right from ford at the parts counter... and yes all the boltons are legal for racing...

and yes there are already 2005 stangs runnign around that are sub 10 second cars that will outhandle vipers bmws and other exotic pieces of overpriced trash....

You would only want a solid axle for a pure drag car. IE, something that doesnt even run street fuel.

Not an everyday car you want to enjoy and drive fast in a variety of ways.
Corvette Z06s punish many guys custom "drag cars" with solid axles as they sit stock.

For the record, that interior is hideous by concept car standards. Don't worry, by the time it hits production the interior will look like the same black or grey plastic turd that's in every gm car.

yea... ever seen the new Tahoe? grey and black plastic eh...

I'm sorry but the Challenger concept shows a total lack of imagination by DCX.

Camaro vs Challenger

the fact that you called it the "Charger" shows that you don't know WTH you're talking about

I was going to say a similar thing as MBrown. It's back end looks a lot like the 06 Charger. Oh, and before you say anything, I have one, so I do know what I'm talking about.

Congrats on the Charger, MBrown was either trying to refer to this Charger concept or the Challenger Concept, neither of which even resemble the Camaro

Im personally not a fan. Maybe I'm too young to appreciate it, but retro does nothing for me. Not a fan of the new mustang, the camaro, the challenger, the charger etc. They all look old and boxy. If I buy a new car, I want it to look NEW.

Give me the infiniti coupe concept any day of the week. Id take just about anything than those ugly boxy things.

On smooth racing tracks yes. But not on real world roads with bumps. IRS is a better setup. It is also more expensive and heavier (but with less unsprung weight).

Look at the difference in handling between a 2003 Mustang Cobra and a 2003 Mustang GT.

Its a little to "futuristic" looking for my tastes I'm a bigger fan of the original. All though you have to love the idea of an affordably priced car with that much performance.

Most drag racers prefer a solid axle over an IRS. A strong 12 bolt live axle keeps both rear tires firmly plated to a smooth track and handles gobs of torque without any wheel hop.

Loved that video. Its in my sig now.

Nothing illustrates and glorifies the legendary performance of Chevrolet like that video.
This new Camaro is the meanest bitch to hit the streets since the original.

The time has come, its time to lay down who the fk is boss to the Mustang just like the good old days. And the rice is just laughable compared to this beast. They dont even know how to build a decent priced performance car that isnt some chinsy 4 banger with twin turbo..

give me a 400HP pushrod V8 any day. If I need more firepower, there is the Z06 Corvette, and if thats not enough, Lingenfelter makes a 1000HP version :D

I'm happy with the poor mans corvette though, because I'm a regular joe and I'd worry about scratching a car that cost more than $35,000 (which is about what I am guessing the new Z28 will cost)

Looks like time is up for those who hate America and who hate Chevrolet <- THE American brand.
We're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacccccckkkkkkkkkkkk!
