I normally have 5-6 meals spaced out pretty evenly throughout the day. But now that I'm working, the spaces between meals is kind of off. I eat most of my calories after work. Then I gotta lift 5-6 times a week to make use of the creatine (don't wanna take the stuff without lifting beforehand). Used to just do a whole bunch of excercises in one day and take about 3 rest days a week. I'm also training to run this mini marathon. I'd like to seperate my cardio and take care of running in the morning and lifting when I come back from work, but I have to get up around 6 to go to work and running at 5 would literally kill me (not a morning person AT ALL). So I end up having to eat as soon as I get home from work, get to the gym asap, lift for about an hour. By the time I get back it's around 7:00-7:30. Then I gotta contemplate eating another meal after working out and pushing my run back to 10 (I usually run at 9). Reason is I like to put 2 hours between my last meal and my run cuz running on a full stomach is no good for me. So now that I have to divide my workouts and fit my run in the same 4 hours (along with 2 meals), things have gotten semi hectic. I'm also not sure how to spend my time wisely in the gym now that I have to space my excercises out more. I'm trying to focus on one section per day but I feel like it takes 30-45 minutes tops to finish my workouts. Gah..

One a positive note, it'll be interesting to see what effect this routine has on my body.

Edit: As a side note, I have been keeping up with my running routine 100% 🙂 I'm trying to get my roommate to put money on the event. As far as he's concerned, all I do is lift, not run.

Aren't the options generally full body workout 3-4 times a week or 1 bodypart per day 6 days a week?

There's nothing wrong with this. Ignore people like Berardi telling you you need to eat every 2-3 hours for metabolism and to get a constant supply of nutrients. It's just plain wrong. If the calories at the end of the day are the same meal frequency is not going to matter. The only times it does is when protein intake is insufficient in the first place. In that case it will help with nitrogen retention, but if your protein intake is too low, that's the problem, not meal frequency.

Squat, bench, dead, row, chins, OH press

Just because it's an "option" doesn't mean it's optimal. Do a full body workout 3x a week, especially since time is an issue. You will see better results anyway.

So should I just take creatine anyways? Even when I'm not working out?

never heard of that. Do you just love the gym everyday or is there a real reason why to train only 1 body part per day.

I love the gym! 😀 No, but I honestly thought some people divided their workouts so that they work out one body part a day, ie. shoulders, arms, chest, back, legs, abs, etc.

That and I thought it would be better to take creatine after working out.

I've never heard that to be an effective way to train. but any training is better than no training i guess.

listen to kooldrew with the full body 3x a week. you will notice an significant increase in strength and muscle mass in a month.

Definitely. Just needed to clear some things up 🙂

Muscle building is not easy. If it was, everyone you know would be 250lbs of pure muscle. Muscle building takes time and effort, and if you aren't willing to dedicate your time and put in extreme amounts of effort, then you are wasting your time. However, if you fully understand the amount of dedication that is needed, then read it.

What exactly are your goals? Gaining mass? Losing fat? Gaining strength? Training for some sport? Improving your cardio for this mini marathon? And how "mini" is this? What's your current training experience (both in lifting and running)?

Sorry, getting ripped doesn't take "extreme amounts of effort." It takes dedication and max effort during your lifts, but the formula is pretty fucking simple:

(calories in > calories out) + sufficient protein + good lifting routine = muscle

This shit isn't rocket science and if your intention is to spam your website, then get the fuck out of here.

Solid plan, I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I added dips to mine, but YMMV.

Death to spammers.:|

Weighted dips are awesome muscle-builders. Not to mention you look awesome when you do them.
