Is this for gaming?
If so, I'd go with AMD.

Don't spend a ton on your motherboard or ram if you go A64.

Unless you have incredible speakers, I wouldn't buy an X-Fi as speakers are the audio bottleneck for performance in most cases.

You can use a DVD burner to burn cds, no need to buy two burners.

eject yourself from intel, 3200+ with a dfi ultra with a gig of ocz vx, both will get you a nice prize when you oc it. get a seagate 250gig 7800.8. i like lian-li cases. ultra-x stinks, fortron, ocz, tagan, antec, xclio, are good. theres more psu brands but im eating apple pie atm. what kind of monitor is that? hope its a hyundai l90d. arent 56k suppose to be in the museums? nec 3540 for burner. floppy drive?keyboard and mice are good choices. ??????. profit?

If gaming is one of the improtant uses of the system you will probably want to go with an X2 for gaming and multitasking. A cheaper mobo and cheaper RAM should be fine with very little performance loss. Also, are the release dates on all of the unreleased stuff set? It's always hard to know when things will actually be available and at what price.

Yes it is, and it's going to be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overkill unless you have pretty much the top computer speakers available or a HT system connected to your computer (and in that case, you're probably better off just connecting digitally and letting your receiver do the work).

Spending more on your soundcard than your speakers is a pretty dumb idea in my opinion. (and this case is taking it to the extreme)

uhhhh.... I don't think T5400s would really make an X-Fi worth it.

I mean like Klipsch Promedias or Creative gigaworks paired with the X-Fi.
If you weren't even sure it was a soundcard, what makes you want it so much?

You can spend as much as you want getting an amazing signal to your speakers, but if they're still budget computer speakers it doesn't make any sense in my mind.

An audigy2 value makes more sense for a set of $60 speakers.

What is the X-Fi going to cost? $200?

I did "" because earlier I mentioned the X-Fi was a bad way to spend money unless you had a really nice speaker system, and you come back with editing in z-640s.

By "incredible speakers" I meant like $300 minimum.
