jimipal56, try using edit... triple posts are obnoxious.

twitchee2, use Pricegrabber, Pricewatch, and Techbargains to find great deals; Newegg, ZipZoomFly, and other high quality retailers to buy.

Hey, would you mind posting what you're looking at so far? I'd like to see how far along you've brought it from your initial posting... :)

You don't need the ethernet adapter as the mobo has 2 itself. What do you need a modem for? $100 for an LCD? Maybe drop some on the graphics card (x800xl or 6800GT), drop the modem and ethernet (unless you NEED the modem), maybe get a different case, and go for an XP-90 on the cooler to save a few more bucks and then get a 2005FPW on a hot deal.

Actually i am not sure it does. I think it supports SATA 3Gb which is SATA I with some of the Features of SATA II including the increase in speed.

The only thing I am still trying to figure out here is where this guy thinks he is going to find an Athlon 64 3700+ SD for $230. I think I need to find out where he plans on getting this deal, I want in on some of that action.....lol

LOL. You post "Sorry guys I don't want AMD" on a forum where nearly 80%+ run AMD rigs? :p

3700+ San Diego would be a good deal faster than a 3.2 Prescott. At least in the gaming arena, which I'll assume you are interested in.

Both chips can be overclocked but the 3700+ will be faster.

If you're seriously thinking about overclocking, I must pray for your parts.

Basic package look like:

MB: DFI Lanparty nF4 Ultra-D
CPU: A64 Venice 3200+ or 3000+
RAM: OCZ Value VX

When ordering online, I'd suggest sticking to the tried-and-true resellers: Newegg, Monarch, Zipzoomfly, etc. Their prices might not be the absolute lowest you can find (although they often are, actually), but you'll prevent potential disaster.

I'd also suggest doing some reading before you even think about ordering parts. There are DIY builder and overclocking tutorials stickied in various forums - definitely worth a look.

Good luck with your build.

If you go with the P4 tho, he will have a nice heater for the winter, which means less in bills for heating... hmm... that might be a toss up.

JK... AMD64 all the way.

I HIGHLY suggest going AMD if your going to be using this for gaming. I've built a few rigs specifically for gaming and while I always opt for AMD, a few friends of mine have built intel systems and I have blown over them with ease. If you wanna do work rather than game, go Intel. If u wanna game and do school work.... go AMD, you'll be much happier

This guy could still save 150-200 by switching out the 3700+ for a 3000+ or 3200+ and OC it to 3700+ levels.

The other issue is that $100 19" LCD.... where the heck can I find one?

Oh yah therethere....it's a Dell 2045FP for only $0.35... man why didn't I check out this website before... it way owns newegg...

I second that.

jimipal56 has set a new record. I believe it's 5 posts in a row and all 20 words or less. Well done, my friend.
