Note that's for hospitalized patients. Most people who catch COVID now just stay at home and sleep it off in a few days.

But, hey... you only need to keep up the fearmongering for another two days. It appears that it's having the intended effect for your guy in the poll numbers.
You are probably young and stupid... well the stupid part is a given, so your ready for your parents and grandparents to check out. You must be trying to collect property or money from an inheritance, or you are just a stupid fuck, I can't tell which.

Funny how 9/11 dominated conservative thinking for almost 20 years, leading them to expend enormous sums of money and kill countless people. Now we have two 9/11s a week from COVID and they don’t give a shit.

Maybe on 9/11 they were really upset by the loss of the buildings and not the lives?

Another fucking COVID denier/disclaimer.
Amazing you think nearly a nearly a quarter of a million dead isn't sufficient to raise alarms.
No, most people don't "stay at home and sleep it off in a few days". You need to educate yourself and quit watching whatever
source of information you currently imbibe. Its rotting your brain. Its people like you that continue to spread this misinformation.
This misinformation is why people continue to get sick and die

If we had acted like South Korea we would have had <6K fatalities. Based on population adjustment
If we followed Germany's footsteps we would have had <40K fatalities.
Even our friends to the North did a better job. by a factor of 2.5. We would have had 86K deaths.
The orange menace is a serial killer.

Trump would just boast that his building in NYC just moved up two slots in the "tallest building" category, and never mention the 3000+ New Yorker's that died, just like he has ignored the 33,000+ New Yorker's that have died of COVID.

You guys have a really odd way of trying to swing independent voters like myself over to your side. I hope that you're not volunteering with any campaigns, because you might convince a few people to vote for the other guy out of spite :)

My "source of information" are friends and family members who actually tested positive for COVID and then recovered. For them (and many others) it was basically felt like a nasty version of the flu. They felt like crap for a few days, and then recovered. I'd imagine that there are many more people out there like them who got it never even bothered to get tested.

It's the same logic for Trump either way. As more Americans die, he comes closer and closer to being the bestiest person in the entire country, though technically that won't happen until Trump is the last person alive.

Yes, most people recover. As compared to the flu though this is much, much more deadly and appears to leave nontrivial numbers of those infected with long term damage.

If you think noting this is fearmongering I would say you have a seriously damaged set of priorities.

Bullshit. You're no independent.
Go ahead and imagine, because you would be wrong. This disease is not just respiratory in nature. It affects the cardiovascular
system in ways that we are just finding out. Search for the term "long haulers"
Sure most recover, most that get it do not die. But don't dismiss this as nothing.

Back in 1918 when the Spanish flu (It was H1N1) began, the US had 108M people, the estimate was that 1/3 caught the flu. Of that 675,000 in the US died.
We are almost to 40% of that total with COVID19
Both have similar fatality rates, although the 1918 may be higher. Both pandemics are similar in that there is/was no vaccine and the only method
of not getting it was sequestering and masks.

If mitigation isn't done or we don't have an effective vaccine, we may likely pass that 1918 epidemic as the worst in US history.
We are the laughingstock of the world. And the serial killer that is the orange menace wants to fire Dr Fauci.

Worldwide 1918 pandemic, 1.5B and 500M caught the flu and 50M died.

Might check those 1918 numbers (US or world?).

So what? The numbers are undeniable and completely unacceptable. Trump holding 10 superspreader rallies in the two days before the election is a complete abomination. How anybody doesn't see that is beyond my comprehension.

Those are world numbers. The US had ~103M people in 1918. But, yeh, stupid fucking Americans, right?

Why don't you try living in reality instead of Trumpworld. Everything is a hoax and fake news. Maybe some will take you seriously.

Maybe talk to some front line medical workers instead of denigrating their fearless work

You do realize that your "source of information" has little objective value, right?

100% of the Nepalese people that I know are doctors, and I know at least 20 of them. Think that accurately represents reality?

Just listened to a press conference with Q&A with the county BOE.

This applies to all of NC.
  • County boards cannot start counting and tabulating absentee and early voting results until 2 PM. Stated that due to the amount of raw data this takes up to 5 hours. Regardless, nothing will be released before the polls close at 7:30.
  • Polls close at 7:30. but if you are in line @7:30, you will be allowed to vote.
  • Precinct results should start showing up fairly shortly after 7:30, if no one was in line to extend the time till all votes were cast.
  • Precinct judges typically bring results to the BOE by about 9:30PM, when the bulk of the results will be made available.
  • The BOE estimates the results will be available by 10PM for everything except provisional ballots and absentee received after 11/3.
  • Absentee ballots received after election day (post marked by election day) and all provisional ballots will be handled between 11/3 and 11/13. NO results from either will be released until the 13th.
  • All counties submit their official results to the state BOE on 11/24.

My brother-in-laws elderly uncle died from it
My kids teacher from last year her 40 year old husband died from it.

A teenage cousin of my wife was sick with it for two months.

But hey you go ahead and roll the dice with yourself, parents, family and friends

With the no controls the White House prefers 70-80% will catch it. After they do here’s their chances

This is based on the fact basically everyone that needs intensive care, gets it. With no beds in the ICU, the mortality rate will increase exponentially.

8 Republican controlled counties in PA won’t start doing anything with their mail in votes until Nov. 4. Everyone else should be able to get theirs counted by the late night hours.

I believe this is by design. So they can try and throw as many out as possible once they know the margins.

No, if at this point you are undecided, I wonder from which planet you just arrived. I'm not trying to 'sway' anyone, if you haven't figured out Trump is a real and present danger to life, freedoms, and the country, then there isn't much I can say to convenience someone so brain dead.

As for my views, they are based on FACTS, not what a 'few' people you might know have been through. Mortality rate gets real fucking serious for people 50 and over, so take you fucking "Most people who catch COVID now just stay at home and sleep it off in a few days." and stick it up your ass. Age 50 - 60, 3% mortality. 60 - 70, 9.5% mortality, 70 - 80, 23% mortality, 80+ 30% mortality rate.

In addition there are untold numbers that will have lifetime consequences from COVID, from heart damage, lung damage, brain damage, GI issues, loss of smell and taste, effecting the young and may well be with them for life.

My patience with idiots that do not/will not pay attention to realty is done.

OBTW, I am also an INDEPENDENT voter, and I will not vote for a man responsible for the murder through incompetence of hundreds of thousands of Americans, what's your excuse.

Edit: misread what you wrote. Still leaving the info below.
Not exactly. It’s from a study done earlier this year of hard hit areas.
Objectives
Initial data on COVID-19 infection has pointed out a special vulnerability of older adults.
Design
We performed a meta-analysis with available national reports on May 7, 2020 from China, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, and New York State. Analyses were performed by a random effects model, and sensitivity analyses were performed for the identification of potential sources of heterogeneity.

To be fair, these are rural counties that might not have the manpower to count them while they handle the live voters. Still unacceptable. We are not (yet) a third world country, despite our banana republic Generalissimo at the top.
