I just looked at the pics on bbzzdd.com. I'm no insurance expert, but that doesn't look totaled to me. The rear end is still relatively intact and the front end doesn't look all that bad. It just looks bad b/c the bumper is off. Looks like the front structure pretty much stayed intact.

Does it still run?

yeah, thats just what i saw on carmax after a quick search-- the KBB value was closer to $10k which is what i was expecting.


As far as things went though -- it could have been a lot worse. I'm sure I could have regained control of my car if i had time to think about --- but my brain just reacted in self preservation mode rather than 'lets think rationally' mode....

I was really hoping to get out and do some solo II races this spring... this might be putting a damper on my autocross hopes for my immediate future.

How about getting a Mini Cooper S? 😀

I've heard not so good things about the reliability of those cars.

yes, it still runs - the radiator was leaking however. I have to agree with Brandon though, seeing it now in the Daylight, it deifnetly doesnt look nearly as bad as I was thinking it was last night.

the frame seems to be solid, no major structural damage other than to the front and rear bumpers and so nice scrapes on the drvers side.

the insurance company is going to take a look at it on monday, so we'll see what they say then. I'm assuming they're just going to want to fix it though.

well, it will most likely get fixed and i'll stick with it until i've got it all paid off....

IF i end up replacing it right now, i'd eiher get a loaded mazda6 or G35... depends on how much i decide i'd be willing to spend.

i doubt they'll salvage it... someone hit my civic and the damage was similar... they hit me on my front corner, my car spun, and then the rear corner of my car hit something

my airbag didnt go off either... im sure my civic was worth less than your sentra, and they still wouldnt salvage it, they covered repairs and i gotta say after they fixed it it looked great 😀

the more i think about it, i'm starting to hope they dont salvage it -- It would mean i'd have to go out and get another new car and i'd end up with another loan....etc.... If they fix it will leave me financially better off. (assuming the car doesn't come back with tons of problems down the road)

Foreign cars don't lost their value too quickly. Most likely they will just repair it and jack your insurance rates through the roof.

If insurance decides to total the car, --- what I decide to buy next will all depend on how much money state farm gives me. If they give me enough to pay off my car loan, i'll probably be looking to get a good deal on a G35 goupe. If i dont get that much from insurance and have to use some of my own funds to pay off the nissan -- i'll probably replace it with something more affordable like a Mazda6.

it looks like my insurance rates may go up 40 or 50 dollars a month.... although i'm not really sure. If it goes up too much, I may see if i can get a better deal through progressive or someone else. Although i really do like state farm for the most part.

Wow, that sucks. I'm certain it's not totalled though. Frame and subframe do not appear to be bent, suspension still looks straight, the airbags didn't go off, and the doors still appear to hang right. Gonna be a spendy repair though. Probably in the range of $5k and will probably take close to a month to fix. All new front clip, bumper beam, rear bumper skirt, plus repainting. Your insurance is not going to be happy. Sorry to hear this happened to you... 🙁

Just got a call from the body shop -- they're looking at minimum 9.5k in repairs. Appernetly the frame is a little banged up. The insurance adjuster is going to come take a look at it tomorrow or wednesday and let us know what to do from here.... As it is though, the repairs are close to 90% of the cars value. I'm not thinking that its looking too good for the sentra 🙁

it depends on how much i get for the nissan... if they give me enough to pay off the loan plus a little extra i can use on a down payment, I might consider a G35. (it'd just mean $600 in payments each month :Q)
