It certainly has the potential to yes, but that is not universal constant.

90% of the time, it is a universal constant. :p You and I and others here and others that we know are examples of that other 10%, but still. A vast majority of those abusing controlled substances are worthless bags of flesh and destroy their lives and many destroy the lives of those around them, just because of this crap.

So, do what I wrote up above and there is less chance for them to ruin anyone else's life. If someone wants to screw up their own life, who are you to stop them?

Actually, I would reverse those numbers. Most people try drugs and don't end up becoming users. Of those who become users, well I guess it depends which substance they are using. I know some extremely productive stoners myself.

Replacing the DEA and a large set of laws with the Drug Distribution Agency and no laws sounds like it keeps the government the same size and makes it less controlling to me.

Most of the people that I know who had or have drug problems honestly didn't have much going for them before drugs. They were bound to be worthless bags of flesh anyway.

I'm not talking about weed. I'm talking about harder drugs. Weed's a play toy.

Wow, what a bleak and hopeless outlook on life!

This is one of the few subjects I look at emotionally instead of rationally. I've seen friends DIE because of drugs. Good people, who had everything in the world going for them, dragged down by drugs.

Drug dealers who's customer's die should be charged with murder, and sentenced to death. Deterence works.

Yeah, me and about 6-8 of my friends started playing around with speed about a year out of high school. Needless to say, we were hopelessly addicted 6 months later. About half of us kicked it eventually and the other half are still users today (4 years later). These were middle class kids from the suburbs that could have gone to college and been just like you and me, and now they're fvcking bums doing whatever they can to get their fix.

It's amazing how quick the addiction sneaks up on you. Once a month becomes once a week becomes once a day. Anyone that wants to leagalize hard drugs needs to get acquainted with some people who have had their lives destroyed by them.

Exact same thing happened to my friends. If I could find the drug dealer who was selling them the drugs, I'd kill him today; no trial, no jury, just a bullet in the head. Drug dealers are some of the worst people on earth, they sell souls for money.

Their lives were ruined by their own choices, not because drugs were available.

I find that hard to believe by just a statement on a BBS. Credible non-bias link to back it up?

United States Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew hemp, used products made from hemp, and praised the hemp plant in some of their writings. Under the laws written by today's politicians, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson would be considered a threat to society--they would be arrested and thrown in prison for the felony crime of growing plants. -cannabis.com

from the book Hemp: Lifeline to the future

Did the Founding Fathers of the United States of America smoke cannabis? Some researchers think so. Dr. Burke, president of the American Historical Reference Society and a consultant for the Smithsonian Institute, counted seven early presidents as cannabis smokers: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, Zachary Taylor and Franklin Pierce

Kill your friends, they made the choice to do that to their own lives. The drug dealer just provided a way to do it. Just like the gun dealer that sells a weapon to a suicidal person, or selling toilet bowl cleaners to bulemics.

Fvcking christ. Who died and made you judge, jury and executioner?
Your friends played around with fire and got burnt, it's not the drug dealers fault.

I dare say that they are just proving darwin right.
