My plan for solving the Israel/Palestine problem.

The rules of this discussion.

You may blast, flame and otherwise rip to shreds and destroy my solution, BUT to do so you also must present a better plan yourself.

I was browsing Yahoo and ran across this picture.

Yahoo

A very strange and unrealistic but intriguing plan came to me. The hate is rampant on both sides. What will it take to stop the killing and make both sides want peace. The plan:

Take all children under six months of age in Israel. Take an equal number of the same age children in the OT and swap them. Give the Palestinian kids to Israelis to raise, give the Israeli children to the Palestinian families to raise.
The Israelis would have reason to give the Palestinians the land and economic assistance they need. The Palestinians would have reason to let the Israelis live in peace and stop the suicide bombers.

You may now rip the plan to pieces but remember the rule, you must present a better plan yourself.

Better plan: Let them duke it out them sleves. Eventualy the Palistinians will kill enough Jews, the Jews will stop holding bake and eliminate all terrorist Palisitnans. Any Arab states that try and help the terrorist will get spanked just like every time they've attacked Israel before.

History does not look kindly on thouse who attack their neighbors and constanly loose!

My plan: create a Palestinian state but maintain Israel's sovereignty. Let the Ps have something dear to defend. Let the Is exist in peace. For the first 10 years put UN troops in between them.

Dividing the land into Israel created the problem, dividing it again may fix solve it.

Nukes always work.

I must have missed something. I am not in any specific religon, but I was prettu sure that "Tho shall not kill" appeared in pretty much every religon. I guess that doesn't matter?

That'll probably just result in a whole ton of dead kids... And if not dead, then they'll be starving, or put out on the streets...

Interesting idea etech, but I dont think anyone in israel or palestine would agree to it.

JellyBaby's idea is the one I favor the most

It also states in the Bible (I'm paraphrasing, if need be I can find the exact words) "one who comes to kill you, stand and kill him first".(Old Testament)

<< The Palestinians would have reason to let the Israelis live in peace and stop the suicide bombers. >>

Why? The Palestinians DON'T care about their own children.... they would slaughter the Israeli children in a heartbeat, and would call their own children martyrs.

It's apparent that some people cannot read.

To flame my idea, YOU MUST PRESENT A BETTER PLAN YOURSELF.

That's the rule of this discussion.

addition to plan.

In 20 years the surviving children will have a vote on the future of the two countries. That should insure their safety.

your plan might work, but its not really realistic.

hmm. Best solution: take ALL palestinians, put them in Palestine. Take all Israelis and put them in Israel. All settlers must leave palestine and all palestinians must leave israel. Once the two sides are 100% isolated, build a demiliterized zone between them (like between the Koreas). Anyone crossing the DMZ would be fair game.

There'll probably still be some border skirmishes (like between Lebanon and Israel), but nothing major.

As for the Golan Heights. Have a referendum. I've heard that the Syrians living there don't really want to leave israel since its brought them prosperity.

Well, have a free and fair election. If they want to go back to Syria, let it be, if they don't want it, consider it a permanent part of Israel.

That's my solution.

Etech, I submitted a "better" plan but didn't flame you. Should I have? 🙂

Fine. Here's my better plan.

The United States and the rest of the world stops being cowards, hiding behind the false idol of "stability" and legitimizing the aggressors (namely Arafat and the other terrorist organizations). Israel wipes out the cancer of the virulently aggressive and hateful in the West Bank. When you eventually run out of those who would use violence or terrorism as a weapon against Israel, you negotiate with the person willing to make peace which TRULY recognizes Israel as a sovereign nation. The U.S. helps establish and defend a democratic transition until the Palestinians become a functional body politic.

You should feel free to flame it if you wish. I said in the beginning that it was not realistic. I have been in and read too many threads that are only about assigning blame and who did what to who 50 or 100 or even 500 years ago. I thought a thread where ideas of reconciling the differences would be a nice idea.

The main problem with having U.N. troops enforcing a peace is this. The Israelis have not been able to stop the terrorist bombers there is no reason to expect U.N. troops to be able to do any better. They would however be able to stop Israeli reprisals for the terrorist bombings. The terrorists would have a field day.

My solution: move all Israelis to North Dakota, move the Palestinians to Nebraska (we're not using those states anyway). completely destroy the land they've been fighting over so that nobody else can use it.

Well personally I think that the following needs to happen:
1. Israeli settlements in the occupied territories removed.
2. West Bank becomes a Palestinian state.
3. In exchange Arabs denounce terrorism as an act of statecraft and back the fighting against it.

Problem is that while there is support for removing the settlements it cannot happen as long as the 2 majority parties in Israel cannot form a government without the support of the fringes. Meanwhile on the Palestinian side they continue terrorism as an act of statecraft which drives opinion in Israel towards a hardline stance. And with all this there is still the problem of Jeruselem which no one wants to yield on.

etech, the UN troops might not even see any conflict. With my plan (actually a derivative of Pat Buchanan's) the Pals would have their own country. They would finally have something to lose in this struggle. Perhaps a clause stating if conflict continues the Pals forfeit that state might help.

This is the only way apart from one side completely conquering the other and walling up whatever nation remains forever.

You can say all you want but that fact remains palistine whats ine thing ..

NO Israel.

Nothing short of that will make them stop fighting.

JellyBaby

It might work. How about adding a clause? For every terrorist act committed by either side they lose x miles of territory to the other side.

There are two other two contentions that are not often discussed.

The right of return and water rights.

For any serious discussion both of those issues will also have to be addressed as well as Jeruselem as Linflas pointed out.

Problem is, Palestinians rely on Israel for jobs and Israel relies on Palestinians for cheap labor. So total separation will hurt both, Palestinians even more.

To that I say: Too bad.

Israel can depend on third world countries for their cheap labour and Palestine can create its own jobs.
