My New Balance 880's failed.**Update**UPDATE 2**

After 2 months, part of the heel has come unglued. $100, WTH?

Email NB. They say they'll take care of it but contact the seller 1st.

I call http://www.shopnewbalance.com/ 9:00AM 10/18/2011. They send me a UPS label for the return of the old ones AND ship a new pair. Hot damn!

**UPDATE**
New shoes in hand, 2:32 10/19/2011. Woot.

**UPDATE 2**

Sent them a "thank you" for their service with a link to this thread telling them that I hoped it would bring them more business. Got an email saying:
Dear robert : Order Number: 6671709

Thank you again for shopping with us. We have received the
following returned merchandise:

M880YB 10.5-2E

As a result, we have credited your account $106.99.
And they did. No one will believe it without pics so here's one of the credit. And you still might not.

Called this a.m. telling them that I still owed for a pair. Lady puts me on hold, comes back and says,"Thank you for your honesty. It was our mistake. Keep it."
😵😱😵
Me: Um.....I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that.
Her: We are. Have a nice day.

I'm still stunned. Happily.

Heh, or maybe I'm a reverse lurker spammer.😛 I'm not.

I love stories of good customer support. Especially when its a company who makes products I generally like.

Good to hear. I've always been happy with my New Balance shoes, and I like to hear about a company that stands behind their products.

You wouldn't have that problem if you had bought Brooks 😛 Glycerin or Ghost as the appropriate trainer on the Brooks side...Launch for more of a performance shoe.

the problem is you bought New Balance shoes. they are cheap throw aways. mine last about 2 years if im lucky. buy em at Kohls for $30 a pair.

Maybe next time. FWIW, I don't run (crappy knees) but running shoes feel way better than the casual tennis shoe, imo.

@Hydro, never had a problem with NB before. 2 years is a long time to have any shoe that you wear daily. Also, imo.

I've always had good luck with New Balance. They fit nicely, and feel good during a run. Many other shoes I've tried never felt as good.

i wear my shoes till they fall apart and my wife makes me get a new pair. and im not gentle with them. Never understood the mentality a lot of people have where if they get a scuff on their shoe the get upset. they're made to get dirty. been wearing new balance for 10 years now. decent cheap shoes, but would never pay $100 for a pair.

Agreeing on the dirty part. They're made to be used/abused but they loose their "cushioning" after a period of time. I'll buy more often and pay more for that.

How often do you change the insole?

I really like New Balance but I made the mistake of buying Nike for my last pair of shoes. I really need to find a good pair of New Balance so I can set my Nike on fire.

I go through sneakers in under 6 months, no matter who makes them. I have a weird step so the outer part of the rear heel wears quickly and unevenly. At this point I buy $20 sneakers and just toss them.

why on earth would i need to do that?! toss and buy a new pair!

Huh? While the sole of the shoe provides support, the insole provides just as much support, but it breaks down rather quickly. If you don't replace it, then yes, you might as well just chunk your shoes.

NB has different grades of shoe quality. Those $30 throw-away shoes are not the same quality as the ones the OP bought. You getting 2 years out of $30 shoes is quite good imo.

Yeah, NB's cheaper shoes are made in Asia like the vast majority of shoe makers but their higher end shoes are made in the US.

Have you ever tried any New Balance except the bottom of the line? With your extensive experience, you should at least be able to give us some model numbers to work with. Otherwise, you're doing a "this one time my Jetta blew a water pump so the R8 is total garbage".

New Balance are not designed to last two years, especially the bottom of the barrel.

right now im wearing a pair of 461's. the guy that sits across from me bought a 100$ pair of new balance and he thinks they're garbage. i'll let you know what kind when he gets back from lunch if hes wearing them today.

Yeah, 461's are low end budget shoes. The lower the number the worse the shoes in NB.

My INC (Macy's in house brand) failed and the salesgirl told me to go F myself and lose weight. I should have called a newspaper or something. All I asked was, do you guys warranty your stuff? (and after hearing her attitude-y answer, called her a bitch.)

Ditto, though I generally wear Saucony since they fit my feet better than any other brand. I was going to look at New Balance for some hiking shoes/boots, mentioned in another recent thread.
