I have a pair of New Balance runners with nice and thin sole made by Vibram (who make the Five Fingers shoes). It's been a great shoe for working, working out at the gym and running.

It is an awesome update, but I predict they'll have at least a few more situations like yours over the next few weeks/months

After 2 months, part of the heel has come unglued. $100, WTH?

Email NB. They say they'll take care of it but contact the seller 1st.

I call http://www.shopnewbalance.com/ 9:00AM 10/18/2011. They send me a UPS label for the return of the old ones AND ship a new pair. Hot damn!
~24hr turnaround. Winning.:D

**UPDATE**
New shoes in hand, 2:32 10/19/2011. Woot.

**UPDATE 2**

Sent them a "thank you" for their service with a link to this thread telling them that I hoped it would bring them more business. Got an email saying:
And they did. No one will believe it without pics so here's one of the credit. And you still might not.

Called this a.m. telling them that I still owed for a pair. Lady puts me on hold, comes back and says,"Thank you for your honesty. It was our mistake. Keep it."
o_O:eek:o_O
Me: Um.....I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that.
Her: We are. Have a nice day.

I'm still stunned. Happily.

Heh, or maybe I'm a reverse lurker spammer.:p I'm not.

NICE!

Free shoes! Is there any way to tell which NB shoes are still made here vs China?
Mine have a USA label inside. Someone said the higher $$ pairs were made here or the U.K.

Wonder if they gave me the credit because of the free plug here? I did tell them that there were 1300 viewers just in the OT sub forum.

Yeah, they have assembled in USA, made in USA and made in UK. The assembled in USA are ones that are put together from material manufactured overseas I believe.

Running in NBs since '86. Always happy with lifespan except for lightweights for races. Have tried other brands occasionally but always come back.

I ordered a game from buy.com and they sent me two of them separately. So I called them up and told and their wonderful customer service said "What do you want us to do about it?" I told them it was theirs and wanted to send it back and they could not even comprehend what I was asking.

Thank God others actually provide great customer service.

You wouldn't have that problem if you had bought Brooks :p Glycerin or Ghost as the appropriate trainer on the Brooks side...Launch for more of a performance shoe.

Brooks are indeed sturdier than NBs.....and this is coming from a lifelong ex-NB wearer.

the problem is you bought New Balance shoes. they are cheap throw aways. mine last about 2 years if im lucky. buy em at Kohls for $30 a pair.
Yeah, Kohls has the best deals on New Balance I've seen anywhere and that's where I've bought the last 8-10 pairs. I'm wearing a pair right now, 608v2, my current favorites. I stock up, have new ones in the closet. I don't think they have the top lines, though, for which I have to go online. I think New Balance must have nice balance sheets. I get them because they make 4E, and they fit me. Most companies don't seem to make shoes that fit me so I don't shop them anymore.
I love them because they make a lot of shoes in 4E. I'm only a size 11.

Same here, exactly 11 4E!
New Balance is the greatest shoe company of all time.

No argument here, it's all I buy.

I'm lucky to live only a mile from their headquarters and the outlet store that is there. It's nice being able to get your running shoes for 50-70% off when you go thru several pairs a year. Plus, all of there clothing/etc.

Wow that's exellent customer service. I normally stick with Nikes, but will look into New Balance for my next pair of running shoes.

I'll take this one guys.

I bought a pair of brooks from a local shoe specialty store a year ago. After 3 weeks, the heel started coming off. I had to glue it back on. After 3 months of "normal" use, the sole was wearing down abnormally. In addition, the shoes, while comfortable when new, became unbearably uncomfortable, but since I had paid $120.00 for them, continued to wear them. The left shoe is slightly smaller than the right and causes my toes to rub, again, something I didn't notice at the store, but became noticeable after wearing them for some time. I've never had that problem with other shoes.

In short, I won't be buying Brooks again. They fall apart too fast and have subpar QC.
